Subterranean termites have colonies about the same size as carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize them as a food source.

A. about the same size as carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize them

B. comparable to the size of carpenter ants, but they have far more workers who forage for food, and all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar, utilizing them

C. that are about the same size as carpenter ants’ colonies, but the termites with far more workers foraging for food, all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar and utilizing it

D. comparable to those of carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize it

E. comparable to that of carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, and all of them are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar and to utilize it

Subterranean termites have colonies ...
colonies of Subterranean termites should be compared with coloniesof carpenter ants
so A and B are out.
colonies is plural so those should be used. so E is out
between C and D
C end "sugar, utilizing them" them refers to sugar but should be single .
Also "but they have far more workers who forage for food" does not have an ending stmt. All are modifiers after it. It should have corrected to form a single straight sentence

D resolves all above issues.
D is the answer

A. about the same size as carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize them -- Incorrect. Plural Pronoun "them" can't refer to singular noun "sugar".

B. comparable to the size of carpenter ants, but they have far more workers who forage for food, and all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar, utilizing them. Incorrect. Plural Pronoun "them" can't refer to singular noun "sugar".

C. that are about the same size as carpenter ants’ colonies, but the termites with far more workers foraging for food, all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar and utilizing it -- Incorrect. The 2nd independent clause starting with "termites with far more.. for food" lacks a verb.

D. comparable to those of carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize it -- Correct choice.

E. comparable to that of carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, and all of them are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar and to utilize it -- Incorrect. "that" can't refer to plural "colonies". Comparison error.

A. about the same size as carpenter ants but far more workers foraging for food, all of whom are capable to convert the cellulose in wood products into sugar to utilize them :-Incorrect. wrong comparison, colonies are compared with ant also use Plural Pronoun "them" for singular noun "sugar is incorrect".

B. comparable to the size of carpenter ants, but they have far more workers who forage for food, and all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar, utilizing them. Incorrect. wrong comparison, colonies are compared with ant also use Plural Pronoun "them" for singular noun "sugar is incorrect".

C. that are about the same size as carpenter ants’ colonies, but the termites with far more workers foraging for food, all of them are capable of converting the cellulose in wood products into sugar and utilizing it :-but the termites............. here termites have no verb

Among the options, the decision point here is the pronoun "those of" that is used for the term "colonies".
