Sugarcane, harvested for extracting sucrose, grows for about a year before it can be harvested between the months of June and December each year. Drought conditions adversely impact the growth and development of the sugarcane plant. Consequently, the cane yields are reduced leading to low sucrose yield. However, in spite of an imminent drought in Grangxi as this season’s planting matures, the revenue from sugarcane yields for the local farmers is expected to go up.
Which of the following statements provides the best support for the argument?
A. Often droughts adversely impact the availability of labour required to work on the sugar plantations in the areas so affected.
B. Climate changes have brought about drastic changes in production patterns of major crops across the globe.
C. The extent of impact of water deficit stress on the growth of the cane plants depends on the plant growth stage - droughts in the later stages can help boost sucrose content in stalks.
D. The sucrose content of the cane increases with better storage facilities and a decrease in the time between harvesting and sugar manufacture from the cane.
E. Grangxi has a significantly better irrigation support system than many of the surrounding districts also anticipating the drought.

we need to explain how the revenue from the sugarcane yields will go up during a drought
A. Often droughts adversely impact the availability of labour required to work on the sugar plantations in the areas so affected. this weaken if the labour is effected the revenue could in-fact decrease.
B. Climate changes have brought about drastic changes in production patterns of major crops across the globe. production patterns of other major crops is out of scope
C. The extent of impact of water deficit stress on the growth of the cane plants depends on the plant growth stage - droughts in the later stages can help boost sucrose content in stalks. this is the correct option!! with a boost in the sucrose content the yields might be sold for higher than usual prices
D. The sucrose content of the cane increases with better storage facilities and a decrease in the time between harvesting and sugar manufacture from the cane. this option has nothing to do with the drought benefiting the sugar cane production.
E. Grangxi has a significantly better irrigation support system than many of the surrounding districts also anticipating the drought. completely irrelevant and out of scope
