Hi Linda(and other experts),
Could you give some suggessions on community work...I am planning to apply for 2006 fall and my resume is short on community work.As I still have few months left before I applying I thought I would try do some community and social work...

Basically I would like to know what kind of community work would impress the admission people.I understand that it is differrent from one school to another but looking to get a general idea. I am still prep'ing gmat and hoping to apply for schools in bay area (Stanford,Berkely...)

Don't do community work just to "impress" adcoms. Do it because you believe in it and it will automatically reflect in the way you present it.

I completely agree with you Paul.One shouldnt do community work with the sole purpose of impressing adcoms.

I currently have few options that I am personally attached to and interested in doing, but generally would like to know what would make admins to say "wow" in the community work area...

I completely agree with you Paul.One shouldnt do community work with the sole purpose of impressing adcoms.

Community service should reflect your interests and values and be enjoyable. If your options all meet these criteria, then choose the option that reveals leadership and organizational skills, or requires working with people in a group setting.
