My profile is as follows:

10th -> 96%, 12th -> 89%

B.tech from top 10 engineering colleges (non-IIT) -> 68%

Work Experience ->
~3 yrs software development experience in 2 companies which involved working in e-commerce domain in both products as well as services based roles. Worked with international teams and international clients.
~2.5 yrs Startup experience, one of the initial members and a part of the leadership team, handling teams ~10 members in operations (supply chain, customer experience, sales).

Extra Curriculars -> Placement Committee in college, fest activities. Decent involvement in multiple sports but no representation at any level.

GMAT -> 730 (Q50, V40, IR8, AWA5)

Post-MBA plans -> Tech Product Management or General Management or Open to Ideas.

Please guide me on what schools I can target and what career options look good for an experience like this.

Hi there,

You have an excellent GMAT score and this will help you get into Top US schools. Your work ex is good too. You need to introspect further and delve into specifics to choose your business school. It's difficult to suggest some schools when you're not sure of what you want to do post MBA. If you don't mind spending some money you may want to take a personality assessment test at https://www.careerleader.com . They do an excellent job of assessing your personality and recommending best suited industry and jobs for you. Do get in touch if you're looking for discounted rates.
For product management you can choose any business school and it will help you get into PM roles. Similarly, west coast schools may help you a little bit more when it comes to tech recruitment but a large no.of candidates do get places from east coast schools too. Hope this helps.

Best,

Hey there,
And good to hear from you!

So overall, I would suggest playing it a bit safe. A top GMAT score alone is not enough to make you a Top 10 contender.

I see a few weaknesses in your profile:
- Non IIT
- Low GPA
- Indian/male/Tech
-Moderate work experience

these I feel will make you more of a contender for schools int he 10-25 ranking.

Now, I'd LOVE to help you out and get down with your profile much deeper, talk about YOU, your dreams, your stories... because that is where the MEAT is :)

The thing is I am missing detail.

I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation. Especially more info about your work.

It will also be very helpful if you can elaborate upon your goals.

Have a look at some of the other very detailed profile requests on this board and do something similar and I'll be happy to get back to you. And feel free to drop us a line for a free consultation.

Best,
JF
