Suggestions for GMAT score of 670

Hi Guys,

I just wrote my GMAT and got a score of 670 (Q-48 V-34). I have the following questions.

1) Should i retake? 
2) What colleges can i apply with this score.?

Thanks for your message. In my experience, a GMAT score of 670 will give you a strong chance of getting into a top 10 program. I am saying this without knowing anything else in your personal, professional or academic background. If you are planning to re-take the GMAT, that will help increase your chances should you get a higher score. If you are not planning to re-take the GMAT, please do not eliminate your potential candidacy from any of the top 10 programs in the US and Europe. I say this from experience as we had several candidates last year attend HBS, Wharton and Stanford with a GMAT score of 650 - 690.

I find that 90% of top-tier candidates I work with tend to "opt-out" of the application process as they feel that they do not stand a chance. They do this before the school can even receive their application. Regardless of how you score, let the top-tier school make the ultimate decision on your candidacy. Most candidates share with me how they are pleasantly surprised when they are accepted and never thought they stood a chance.

In general, I would recommend retaking the GMAT to try to get scores in the 700s in order to be more competitive. That said, it is important to know everything else about your background to be able to give better advice on what score you will likely need to gain admission at different MBA programs. The score alone unfortunately is not enough to inspire helpful advice on school selection.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for your inputs. My profile is as under. I am an Indian and 24 years old. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession and work for Price Waterhouse Coopers. Prior to PwC, I was working with KPMG. My total work ex is around 25 months as on date. My graduation scores are not great. Its is just above the 60% mark.

But my class X and XII is 90% and 92% respectively.

I am looking for a good college in the US, not necessarily top 10. May be one from the top 25-30. I want to pursue MBA with finance or consultation as the specialisation.

I would need your guidance for going forward. I would want to apply in R-1 itself.

Please let me know incase i need to provide additional inputs.
