Congrats on your admits!
It seems your biggest dilemma is going to school this year or potentially going next year.
I don’t know if GMAT was your main holder back. Usually everyone has at least two. It also depends on your focus and ability to indeed get a much higher score in the next 3-4 months. It would need to be meaningfully higher. Probably at least 50 points and preferably as high as possible.
Getting a higher score, may not get you into a better school but it may help you get some financial aid at the same school as you get in this year so that’s also something to consider if you have energy and focusing you to retake. Keep in mind that you would need to put in solid effort into improvement…
MBB recruiting involves two parts. Selection Getting invited to an interview and interviewing… both kind of independent of the school you go to. Sure, a certain program may have more attention from a business school but in a top 10 program, competition is a lot stiffer so even if McKenzie may want to interview 100 people, there may be 400 applications…. In terms of better opportunities for MBB, so you obviously don’t get admitted or denied simply based on your school name. A lot of the consulting recruiting depends on you and your ability to impress the interviewers.
A top 10 school obviously does a lot and has a lot of ancillary value from a stronger brand and stronger alumni net work and stronger classmates. Those will be the factors that will be helping you recruit. I just want to make sure that was transparent. 😇
UNC has consulting companies maintaining offices on campus but I have heard that recruiting has not been stellar and I think the consultant Club has not been doing an amazing job either but it has been a pretty crappy year. I would love to hear from some of the UNC students….
