international candidate. we 6 years. mechanical engineer doing project management in government with huge responsibilities.

reason for MBA: shifting my career into tech pm in US. if I cannot manage this, I would go for any job, mainly in tech or CPG.

full ride at uw madison. does tepper worth the additional $150k+? if i even get a TA in 2nd year still nearly $100k required. currency in my country worths little against USD.

both are STEM schools in OK cities.

Congrats on your admit!

Based on my information valuation and trade off table here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/value-of-a-t ... 13365.html, I feel Madison is a better value/offer, esp if the economy goes into recession and you graduate in a tough year or the immigration policies get tightened. At the same time, you are still looking at 50-60K of living expenses, so it is not "free" per se.... I do know international students who have passed up Full Rides to schools such as Foster and McCombs. souvik101990 - you have any thoughts about Tech PM role?

This is a hard one, and I tend to be risk averse in my own way - so I would go on to recommend Tepper. If this was a question between Tepper with $0 and Foster with a full ride, I'd probably encourage you to go to Foster. I have some reservations (somewhat out of ignorance I'll bet) on the opportunities you will get out of Wisconsin Madison. Tepper on the other hand has almost all major tech employers coming to campus including Amazon, Microsoft etc. and significant opportunities through the CMU engineering alumni network.

Have you researched the Wisconsin career outcomes? Do you see many international students out of Wisconsin get into tech PM roles?

with the us job market for internationals and my country's unstable currency, i decided to join UW Madison.
I decided that the additional $+150k would not worth the risk. Moreover, Wisconsin seems to send a handful of students into top companies. I will try to work my way into those companies. It will be tougher for sure, but manageable.
