Official Explanation

3. According to the author, how is the current version of the Guinness Book different from its older versions in terms of content?

Difficulty Level: 700

Explanation

(A) While this is true, the difference has to be in the content and not in the presentation.

(B) The author clearly states in the second paragraph that, in the current version of the book, entertainment-oriented records share space with education oriented ones. (B) states this best and is the correct answer.

(C) While this is also true, this is not necessarily a point of difference between the two versions of the book, as this was probably true for the older version as well.

(D) The author never states that the focus of the book has shifted; he merely states that the book now also contains entertainment-oriented facts.

(E) Same as (C).

The correct answer is B.

Isn't it mentioned in the second paragraph that it is the website that has now involved entertainment facts. And in the third paragraph that it is the book that started simple and now has evolved as mentioned in the Option C. Wouldn't there be diff between book & website as the question specifies on book.

The question specifically asks about the content of the Guinness Book of Records, not the website. Based on the information provided in the passage, the correct answer would be (B) The book now contains entertainment-oriented facts along with educational ones. The passage mentions that in its latest incarnation, the book has found a new home on the Internet, and the Guinness World Records website contains seemingly innumerable facts, including entertainment-oriented facts like the heaviest train pulled with a beard, along with educational facts about topics such as the most powerful combustion engine or the world's longest train. This suggests that the current version of the book has expanded its content to include a wider range of topics, catering to an audience interested in both entertainment and education.
