Can someone please tell why C is the wrong choice??

hi,
C is wrong as the choice misses out on word 'other'..
(C) Black-and-white ruffed lemurs are bred at the St. Louis Zoo and at zoos across the United States..
since we are talking of st louis zoo and all other zoos across the US, so when we say at zoos, it includes st louis too which has already been mentioned..
if it was given st louis zoo in country X and at zoos across the US .. other would not be required

Option C looks grammatically and would have been logically correct had it mentioned some other zoo(which is not in US)
Will Gmat ask a question which requires such specific details?

We can say "The lemur was bred" (singular, referring to the species as a whole) or "Lemurs were bred" (plural, referring to multiple individuals). However, we can't say "Lemur were bred" (singular subject, plural verb). We can't even say "Lemur was bred," since if we want a singular subject, we need to say "THE lemur."
