The reason I post this question is because I want to understand the grammar issue of another, other, one other, each other, others.

The reason I post this question is because I want to understand the grammar issue of another, other, one other, each other, others.



Imo--

another = when we have multiple options
so when the boys ordered in the last part of the sentence , they ordered another (many options)

the other = the only one left
thus when they ordered two , ate one , only one was left ,therefore they ate the other one

Imo , we can do away with "one" in the other one
