Why option 3 is better choice than option 5. It seems option 5 better option than any one

Official Solution had this

Choice A: No. The list including having a poor diet and lacking exercise and environmental factors and genetics is not parallel. Explained… because of is redundant. Parallel construction. Redundancy.

Choice B: Correct.

Choice C: No. The verb occurring and the conjunction phrase and also are not parallel. Parallel construction.

Choice D: No. The verb occurs and the conjunction phrase and also are not parallel. Parallel construction. +Change of Meaning (Diet Not same as poor diet)

Choice E: No. The verb occurs, the list including having a poor diet and lacking exercise and environmental factors and genetics, and the conjunction phrase and also are not parallel. Parallel construction.

In 3&5, I couldn't find out parallelism issue

Hmm, I wonder if those explanations were written by some new algorithm. :-D

C) First, the combination of "not just" and "but" doesn't work. We need "but also" to make it clear that we aren't contrasting the two sides, but rather saying "It's not JUST x; it's ALSO y." Throwing in "also" much later (after "influenced") makes no sense. Also, this option says that "people" are "influenced by environmental factors and genetics." These things may cause obesity, but it doesn't make sense to say that they influence people.

E) This has the same "not just"/"but" problem. We don't want to say that obesity is caused by "people having a poor diet and lacking exercise." This is saying that obesity is caused by "people." The other parts both just modify "people." Besides, not even "having a poor diet" is the cause--the poor diet itself is.

I should add that this question is a blatant copy of an official question:

There is no requirement that the words "but also" always be preceded by "not only." However, if we start by saying "not only" or "not just," we should follow with "but also."
