Speaker 1's Notes: a hectare of non-organically farmed land produces 2.5 times more potatoes than does organically farmed land. The statement states similar matter.
Farah2000
For Problem 3, could you please help with Statment E: 'Whether raising a certain type of crop organically requires more land than if that crop is raised nonorganically'. I cannot locate where this information is mentioned or indicated?
Thank you in advance!

Hi!
I'm confused with Q2
We have to say if the statement is relevant for BOTH:
Speaker 2 also discusses it: "there is no evidence that organic farms release'', so it is not relevant in the eyes of Speaker 2
Can you explain please?
Thank you!

The Q2 instructions ask whether the statement is relevant to both speakers’ contributions, not whether both speakers agree.

For the statement “Both nonorganic and organic farms release undesirable nutrients into water sources,” Speaker 1 clearly treats it as relevant by pointing out that organic milk production releases more. Speaker 2 also treats it as relevant, because even though he says there is no evidence that organic farms release more, he is still directly addressing the topic of nutrient release into water sources.

So the key point is that Speaker 2 does not have to agree or provide confirming data for the statement. The fact that he engages with the issue shows it is relevant to his contribution.

That is why the answer here is Yes.
