"I seem to be stuck at around 43-44."

Where do you think your issues lie?

I am not sure. I have not taken too many CATs, recently took and online test (Q43) so I dont have an ESR. From past 2 CATs, my guess is careless mistakes on DS questions.

Hi All,

Ay idea which one of these courses would be most effective for quant score enhancement. I seem to be stuck at around 43-44. I would like like to up it to at least 48.

Thanks

Hi All,

Hi ozni,

GMAT Quant tests only specific types of questions from each topic. So, if you know those question types and how to solve them in the right way, then you will most likely score well. But, you have to make sure that you use the right methods and strategies to avoid the traps set by the test makers, mainly in DS questions. You seem to be good with the concepts. You just have to start focusing on the methodology to solve questions. You might understand it a little better by going through the recording below.

And now how to choose a resource?

When you choose a resource, make sure to choose one which helps you with the right aspects for your GMAT preparation. As GMAT mainly tests your application skills, the resource you choose must help you with:
  • Concepts
  • Methodology (Very important)
  • Practice questions
  • Their detailed solutions

So, you first learn the concepts of a particular topic, then learn the methodology to solve questions of that topic and only then practice questions to solidify your learning. This is how you go about your GMAT preparation. The resource you choose must make your prep a lot more structured and effective.

And one more important thing to look for in a course is the study plan. To make your prep effective, you need to be really consistent. So, a study plan will help you to be consistent. Having said that, you cannot follow a study plan which doesn't suit you. For example, a person who can dedicate just 3 hours a day cannot have the same study plan as a person who can dedicate 6 hours a day. So, the study plan has to be personalized. And it has to help you work on your weak areas.

You can go through the article below to understand how to choose an online course

Key factors to consider while choosing an online course for GMAT

The better way to choose an online course is to check the free trials of the courses and then decide which suits you the most. I suggest you to check the free trial of GMATWhiz and then take a decision. It provides you with a personalized study plan by taking into account the number of hours you can dedicate for studies in a week.

Click here to check out the free trial

It focuses mainly on the application of concepts and has detailed solutions for the questions which helps you to learn the right methodology. The AI driven course automatically suggests you with additional improvement modules for a certain topic if your performance is not very great in that. This way, you can work on your weak areas right away without any delay.

Hope it helped. If you have any queries regarding the study strategy or the resource, you can get in touch with me using the below link. I will be happy to help.

Hi ozni,

If you are confused between two courses, then better check out the free trials, understand what they offer and then decide. I personally used GMATWhiz online course and improved my Quant score from 43 to 50. It helped me learn the right approach to solve questions, mainly DS questions which include a lot of traps. The questions and their detailed explanations helped me understand where exactly I'm making the mistake. And their study plan made the process much easier as I had weekly tasks and deadlines to finish. I suggest you to check GMATWhiz course and take a decision.

You can get in touch with me if you need any help. All the best :)

Hi

I have not taken any course and do not recommend any course and least of all some course that I have no knowledge of.
Of course I am surprised how this message has come up without my knowledge and that too has received some kudo ;)

bb, the IP address for this post shows some vamshikaithi IP address. I have just PMed if you could check on whether how my post could be made from someone else’s IP address.

Thank you. It is just a common rotation of the IP address banks. It seems there is a single post that overlaps for these 2 users (out of hundreds that they made) that was from the same IP address. It is common, esp when using a cell phone to post since those often share the same IP across multiple customers. I don't think it is in any way unusual.

Thx.
BB.
