The exigencies of dramatic art, as shown even by the history plays of Shakespeare, makes the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable.

(A) makes the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable
(B) made dramatized historical events inevitably foreshortened
(C) make the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable
(D) has inevitably foreshortened dramatized historical events
(E) inevitably foreshortens dramatized historical events

This one has been discussed but B was never among the possible choices.
Can someone please explain why B is obviously incorrect?

Tough choice between C/E. My pick would be C. Can someone explain why one is better than the other.

B can't be right as it alters the meaning of the sentence. The exigencies of dramatic art STILL continue to make the forshortening of etc....The use of "made" makes it sound like the event has come and gone (finished).

I go for (C). And (D) and (E) are out because the alter the meaning of the sentence because of the Word Placement "inevitable". "Makes the foreshortening inevitable" is different than "inevitably foreshortening"

Got C.
E is out as exigencies is plural and E uses "foreshortens".

Answer is C because "exigencies" follows with "make" without an "s"

OK, so there's nothing wrong with B, but the tense.

I got it! choosing B would have changed the meaning of the original sentence, what we have to avoid.
