The Federal Reserve Boards reduction of interest rates on loans to financial institutions is both an acknowledgement of past economic trends and an effort to influence their future direction.

A. reduction of interest rates on loans to financial institutions is both an acknowledgement of past economic trends and an effort

B. reduction of interest rates on loans to financial institutions is an acknowledgement both of past economic trends as well as an effort

C. reduction of interest rates on loans to financial institutions both acknowledge past economic trends and attempt

D. reducing interest rates on loans to financial institutions is an acknowledgement both of past economic trends and an effort

E. reducing interest rates on loans to financial institutions both acknowledge past economic trends as well as attempt

The choice is between A & B.

A is better, I believe due to the fact that "effort to influence their future direction" is not an acknowledgment. Therefore acknowledgment can only refer to economic trend.

The computer software being designed for a project studying Native American access to higher education will not only meet the needs of that study, but also has the versatility and power of facilitating similar research endeavors.

A. but also has the versatility and power of facilitating --> not parallel with "access to higher education" --> incorrect

B. but also have the versatility and power to facilitate --> I will pick B for "Power to facilitate" parallel to "access to higher education", also note "will" in the question, this means that we need to use "have"

C. but it also has the versatility and power to facilitate --> incorrect "has" in the sentence, which is not correct with the usage of "will"

D. and also have the versatility and power of facilitating --> incorrect, whever there is "will not only" the sentence should have "but also"

E. and it also has such versatility and power that it can facilitate --> incorrect

My answer is B.

What is the OA ?

Thanks.

Options A and B are contendors

I'd prefer A to B cause the use of 'Both' and "as well as' in option B makes it redundant.

OA is A

"B" is not the solution evidenced by the fact there is no "of" before an.
