In the mail, my coordinator mentioned to let her know whether there was any issue with the scheduling. I also didn't hear anything from my interviewer for 24hr now. I guess that they don't check their LBS account so often.
Where are you located? I would wait until EOB time and if nothing I would contact the coordinator.

Regarding the word count, I didn't even see that bold sentence woops... My first essay is 4 words below the limit, another one that is spot on the limit, and the three last ones that are 2, 4 and 6 words over. I received an interview invite but I'm not sure if they will hold that against me for the final decision. We'll see...

Hey bseb,

Congratulations to your interview invitation - that's cool!

I am sure they will not hold your "violation" of the word-limits against you once they decided to interview you. To be honest, I think being 3% over the word count is more than tolerable - it's rational, since in some cases reducing the essay to 300 instead of 306 could mean to remove sub-clauses or spoil good wording. I just wonder why LBS put this bold-faced headline new into their application form, I'm pretty sure it has not been there in former years. But you've passed the biggest hurdle, which makes me believe they tolerate meaningless violations of 1 - 3%. BTW: The word-limits are extremely strict this year, I know word-limits and essay questions from prior years. The class for 2011, for instance, had 500 words for the team work / team leadership essay. We only have 300, which calls for extremely condensed wording from our side, and slight tolerance from LBS' side...

Cheers,

I agree with you, I tried to get my essays as close as possible to the limit but I didn’t want to make any of them sound awkward by rephrasing too many sentences.
I’m not sure that getting the interview invite is the toughest part of the process. A lot of applicants seemed to have received an invite on this forum. Of course, I’m sure that not everyone reported their dings either.

LBS newsflash !!

Over the weekend, a team from London Business School won the annual Wharton Private Equity Competition. The team of <names removed> beat out 18 teams from the top American schools including Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, Kellogg, and Wharton. This follows on the success of the London Business School team of <more names removed> who won the European Private Equity competition at Rotterdam earlier this year.

These achievements are particularly impressive as this is the first year London Business School has entered these competitions.

Could a current student briefly explain the process of going on international exchange at LBS? Is it a very competitive process? How does one go about applying? Is there an interview process?

I am not a current student, but posed the same question at my LBS visit. It depends, popular exchange BSchools are CBS, MIT, Booth. Demand always outweighs supply of available places. The answer is relatively tough to get in. Also rule that foreign students get preference for exchange. So US students less likely to enter exchange BSchools in the US.

Other BSchools are neutral (HEC or other US schools) and others are less popular.
some BSchools in Asia are getting more popular as exchange partners.

Well I'm at Booth right now and somehow it didn't feel particularly competitive when I was applying for it. The most in-demand schools were Columbia, Wharton, MIT, Booth, AGSM, HKU (in no particular order). Plus you get to pick 3 (in your order of preference) and it is very rare that you do not get even one school of your preference.

The rule is you cannot apply for schools in your home country in R1. However there are TONS of spots in R2 for really great US schools. I know several Americans who went to Stern, Kellogg, Tuck and got spots in R2.

Columbia, MIT, Wharton and Chicago were filled up in R1 and none of my American friends got an opportunity to apply for these, but they applied instead to AGSM, HKU, HEC, IESE etc. There are just way too many other cool schools and locations as available options.

Thanks bsd, that was very helpful. Also, what are the typical topics for the presentation in an interview. Is it business related, geo political or something else. If you can share a few examples (unless you are not supposed to), then it would great. I am just trying to prepare a strategy for the presentation.

cheers...

I read in a blog or forum post several months ago where someone compared the impromptu presentation to the writing section of the GMAT in that whatever side you choose to argue was far less important than how you thought out and structured your argument. I found this comparison especially helpful. The classic "Intro/3 Main Points/Conclusion" structure is a good standby to keep in mind too.

Yes, i confirm this point... don't get lost with the "ideas/arguments", and focus more on the structure and delivery (communication skills)

anyone has an idea of the post-interview acceptance ratio?
just want to figure out what percentage of those interviewed will get accepted

I've checked on Businessweek. They did not disclose this information.

From what I understood, it is about 40%

Interestingly, the email with the interviewer details states that the final decisions will me communicated by midnight GMT on 25th March. I thought 24th March was the decision deadline!

I just checked my mail. It also states midnight GMT on 25th March. Maybe they've changed the dates...

my email says midnight GMT on 24 March 2011..

I received my interviewer's contact information but I haven't heard back from her since I emailed her on Monday. I don't know if I should send her a reminder (I don't want to be to insisting) or if I should email the admissions manager for the region I live in.
