We met in a coffee shop
You probably meant a cafe? Do you know what a coffee shop is? No wonder why the interview took so long

That is funny. I didn't even think of that when I saw it, but that's probably because coffee shop and cafe are nearly synonymous in the US.

Wow, got mie yesterday and it lasted 2h30...

Impromptu was on how to explain the German high growth vs other European countries'.

Very scholar interview...but became conversational towards the end...the Why LBS Why MBA questions came very late in the process.

The guy was very nice and tried to convince me that LBS is way better than INSEAD...

))) had the same impromptu and mine lasted 2.30 as well... classic interview i would say, nothing unexpected.

good luck to all

lolz . .i thought cafe and coffee shop are synonymous, but just found out that it depends on the geography :). Coffee shop also would be a nice and different place to have conversation :P

Had my LBS interview and it lasted 1h 30m, interviewer works in my post MBA target function. He posed mostly standard questions of

1) why MBA for my career path
2) alternative plans if no MBA
3) what involvement I plan at LBS (class, student clubs, trips, events) = why LBS
4) In depth what skills I have learned and one needs in his job. Professional dilemma and explain process of decision making
5) Ticked international experience, teamwork and define leadership with work example
6) Explain my meagre analytical/creative work mentioned in my essays and give work examples when I contributed. He challenged my impact somewhat in this matter, yikes
7) Brief discussion of specific classes, electives and he asked me about profs, classes and how it fits with my concentration. Fortunately I was prepared with facts
8) Presentation

He asked about my other applications, mused about his LBS experience and supportive community for WAGs. Also asked about recent books I have read and what I liked about writings (my essays refered to book club).

I gave my best shot, solid but didn't quite knock it out of the park.

Thanks for sharing your interview experience.

Reading all these interview stories, I get the idea that LBS interviews are much less relaxed than those at other b-schools. They also seem to be longer, 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. But it's good to see so many people getting interviewed.

Not sent from my Blackberry, not sent from my iPad, not sent from my iPhone, but sent from my computer.

PGS17,

I may beg to differ on LBS interview based on my experience with other Bschools' interviews. Yes, my LBS interview with alumni tends to last longer than phone interview with adcom. Rule of thumb: Alumni interviews are more conversational. I don't think that my LBS interviewer was less relaxed than my other interviewers. Another alum was even more poker faced without given any clues how I did.

I would probably say that LBS interviewer may put you on the spot and see how you respond.

I had my interview at the beginning of this week in London. It was generally pretty relaxed, definitely in the form of a conversation more than an interrogation. My interviewer weaved questions into the discussion covering past leadership experience, why an MBA, why LBS, comparison of other schools etc. There were no curveballs - didn't even get a weakness question. The presentation was a pretty strange experience and I don't think I did it particularly well - I probably only spoke for a minute (possibly less) so hopefully it isn't a big factor in the overall decision. Apart from that I felt the interview went fairly well, but it's always hard to tell what the interviewer is thinking. It's going to be a long three week wait ...

I had my interview a few days ago, and although the questions overall were pretty standard, I did feel the interviewer was hammering a bit on certain aspects of my application and putting me on the spot a few times, that threw me off a bit. So I really don't know how the interview went, the interviewer had this poker face the whole time I was talking. Yeah it is going to be a really long 3 week wait!

I had my interview too yesterday. Surprisingly, she didn't ask any questions about my essays, recommendations or even work experience. She focused a lot on my goals and asked me many scenario like questions like: If you were in this position and had to do this, how would you do it? etc etc. Overall, I'm glad to be done with the interview but I have no idea how I did.
Good luck to the rest of you who haven't had their interview yet!

Guys- can we expect a lot of questions from the resume (like detailed questions) or is it an even balance between Why Mba, LBS, now? leadership examples, international experiences, clubs that you want to contribute to, changes made in your career and decision reasoning behind that, etc.

Please advise - Thank you!!!

Cille
I had my interview yesterday - it didn't go very well at all. Totally messed up the presentation bit, lost my train of thought in the middle of one the points I was making. So not expecting an admit from there. I also think as I have received an admit from another school the day before my interview, I relaxed too much and didn't really prepare properly or focus on it. Other than that the interviewer just went through my current job, asked about some leadership experiences, international background, why did i get into the industry I'm in now, what am i hoping to take away with from an MBA that will significantly help me in my career, and why LBS (and not the other schools I've applied to). I'm now officially done with interviews etc. Thank God - am a bit burned out by this whole process, I'm going on holiday next week to re-load batteries and relax in the sun. Good luck to everyone else on your interviews!!

Cille- I am kind of in the same boat. Had another interview, where I lost my train of thought once, asked for more time, and then started talking, and had to asked for a second. Is that really bad. That was all the first minute of the interview, the rest of the interview was fine all the way. There were probing questions on my first response, but all were answered appropriately. Can I pretty much kiss this school goodbye? What are your thoughts or have heard from your colleagues/friends. Any thoughts are welcome.
