Hi all,

IMHO answer choice C is correct. (Logical predictions)

C) conserving enough energy to conduct the intended probe in the Red Planet is BECAUSE regular operations of the spacecraft stabilize THEREFORE NASA's InSight will start sending signals to deploy the camera

This is a very simple explanation, however I solved it this way:

A) as regular operations of the spacecraft will stabilize and conserve - Incorrect (as X will Y, therefore...)

B) to send signals to deploy -Incorrect (verb)

D) to send signals to deploy -Incorrect (verb)

E) BECAUSE: "deploy the camera on its robotic arm" AS A RESULT: " stabilizing regular operations of the spacecraft and conserving enough energy"
No, this is wrong: Conserving energy is THE RESULT of stabilizing operations.

Hi Sir,
Can you explain this with your parallelism procedure you taught in the webinars.

C is correct, the only option with a logical sequence and the one that conveys the intended meaning.

I agree. C is the most appropriate choice. For this specific question, choosing the right one is easier process of elimination. Usage of “ , ing” (comma verb-ing) is very appropriate in the last part of the sentence.

The last part “, conserving...” starts to tell about the result of the “clause” state earlier. So, “comma verb-ing” is appropriately modifying the previous clause. And thus the most apt usage.

Can someone please explain why Option A is wrong?

Sure, here you go:

The mission team of NASA's InSight will start sending signals to deploy the camera on its robotic arm as regular operations of the spacecraft will stabilize and conserve.

The tenses used lead to sequencing issue and hence rejected.

Other choices are as follows:

B. to send signals to deploy the camera on its robotic arm, and regular operations of the spacecraft will stabilize that will conserve [Parallelism is off here]
C. sending signals to deploy the camera on its robotic arm while regular operations of the spacecraft stabilize, conserving
D. to send signals to deploy the camera on its robotic arm, with regular operations of the spacecraft stabilized and conserved [Meaning issue created]
E. sending signals to deploy the camera on its robotic arm, stabilizing regular operations of the spacecraft and conserving [The forced parallelism creates meaning issues here]

Hope this is helpful :)
