IMO - 1) No , 2) Yes , 3) No

Only three students scored at least as much as their median score in the majority of the subjects.

A - Median 76 . Only 2 scores above it. For majority of the subjects it should be for 3 or more.
B- Median 73.Only 2 scores above it. For majority of the subjects it should be for 3 or more.
C- Median 78. Yes this one is correct.
D- Median 73.5 Only 2 scores above it. For majority of the subjects it should be for 3 or more.

No need to check any further because we already got our answer.

The marks of the students in maths and Current Affairs are positively correlated.

Only one data point for Ana is not correlated rest all the points are positively correlated.

The range of marks is the least for Caroline.

Donald has a range of 4 while C has a range of 7. Hence No.
hey chetan2u, how can one identify whether the statement in the 2nd part of the Q is a must be true or can be true statement? I marked the answer as No for the positive correlation because of one discrepancy in the data.The wording of the Q stem doesnt have the words may or can.so i thought the Q stem as the must be true statement.
Positive correlation is the general trend, so we are looking at all but most of the values to follow same relation.

Can someone elaborate part 1 and the wording
Hi

Two parts
1) at least as much as their median score: The median score would be the average of 2nd and 3rd highest marks, as we have 4 scores.
2) In the majority of the subjects: This means in at least 3 subjects.

Combined, it tells us that number of students who would have got at least the score equal to median score in three of the subjects.
If the 2nd and 3rd highest marks are different, then there will always be two subjects above median and two below it.

Thus, our answer would be the subjects where the 2nd and 3rd highest marks are equal to the median score itself.

1. Only three students scored at least as much as their median score in the majority of the subjects. => No

Scored at least as much as their median score in the majority of the subjects
=> At least 3/4 of the subjects >= Median score

A: Median is btw 72 and 80 => Only 2 subjects > Median
B:  Median is 71 and 75 => Only 2 subjects > Median
C: Median is 78 == 3 subjects > Median => Ok
D: Median is btw 72 and 75 => Only 2 subjects > Median
E: Median is btw 70 and 73 =>  Only 2 subjects > Median

In fact, since there are 4 subjects, for scores of at least 3/4 subjects to be >= median
=> then it must be that the subject (ranks 2nd and 3rd) in terms of scores must be equal = median
=> Only C qualifies

2. The marks of the students in Maths and Current Affairs are positively correlated. => Yes

Sorting in terms of Maths score (ascending), the Current Affairs scores are also ascending (except for Ana)
=> In general, positively correlated

3. The range of marks is the least for Caroline. => No

Caroline's range is 7 (= 79 - 2)

Should pick someone seems to have low range, maybe have the tens (just guessing)
=> Give a try to Donald
=> Donald's range is 4 (= 76 - 72), i.e less than 7
=> Caroline is not the one who has the least range of marks
