The median KPSI of the 4 newest rugs is 162.
I dont understand this one, according to the data there are 4 20 age rug, and the median is 162.
Is it because the newest cant be determined by only age? I actually dont have information about which one is the newest?

No, Median is not 162. You have to sort the numbers in an ascending order.

The numbers are: 162, 162, 212, 280.
Median is 187.

How can one possibly do this in one's head? Any shortcuts?
prashi1503
First find the area of rugs in square inches using formula given in question hikamikubo
10 *14 *144

Multiply that with KPSI to get the number of Knots 10*14*144*280 = 5644800 > 5500000

You can use the online calculator that is provided with the DI questions. As the final answer is pretty close to 5,500,000, you are better off using the calculator here but it is a fast calculation 140*144*280 (helpful to know that 14^2 is 144)
