The Unified Medical Language System developed by the US National Library of Medicine organizes medical terms into a semantic network, which is structured somewhat like an organization chart. In the portion shown, each node (rectangular box) contains a semantic type, to which medical terms are assigned. A solid line indicates an “is a” relationship: the lower node “is a” specific kind of the higher node and such relationships are passed down to any subsequent nodes, e.g., an Organism “is a” specific kind of Physical Object and, therefore, a Bacterium “is a” specific kind of Organism and Physical Object. Dotted lines indicate other possible associations between nodes (labeled in italics) and the arrowheads indicate the direction of the relationship.
Fill each blank using the drop-down menu to create the most accurate statement on the basis of the information provided.
1. Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with .
2. Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with exactly other semantic types.

Official Explanation
Statement 1: Conceptual Entity. The graph’s text indicates that an “is a” relationship is indicated by a solid line between a higher node and a lower node. Start by finding the box labeled Body Location or Region, located on the right-hand side. Since this node is at the lowest level, any “is a” relationship must come from a higher node. Move upwards through the tree, following solid lines, to find every node Body Location or Region is connected to.
Spatial Concept → Idea or Concept → Conceptual Entity → Entity
Conceptual Entity is among the choices so this is the correct answer.
Statement 2:. The graph’s text indicates that an “is a” relationship is indicated by a solid line between a higher node and a lower node. Start by finding the box labeled Anatomical Structure, located on the right-hand side. This node has other nodes above and below it so an “is a” relationship could come from either direction. Start at the top of the tree, and follow the branching that leads you through Anatomical Structure, following solid lines, to find every node Anatomical Structure is connected to. Be careful not to include dotted line connections as those are not considered “is a” relationships.
There are 4 nodes in this “is a” relationship, but it asks for the number Anatomical Structure is related to. Therefore, it is in an “is a” relationship with 3 other semantic types.

Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with___________. answer is c) Conceptual Entity : explaination : since we are asked "is a "relationship which is a relationship that lower node has with higher nodes subsequently above it , meaning lower node is specific kind of all nodes above , so Body Location or Region traces back to Conceptual Entity from the diagram if we consider solid lines
A. Body Space or Junction B. Body Substance C. Conceptual Entity D. Finding E. Qualitative Concept
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with exactly__________other semantic types.
answer is b)2 : explaination : since we are asked "is a " relationship which is a relationship that lower node has with higher nodes subsequently above it , meaning lower node is specific kind of all nodes above , so Anatomical structure has is a relationship with only Physical Object & Entity which makes it 2 other semantic types

Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with___________. --Since the lower node “is a” specific kind of the higher node and such relationships are passed down to any subsequent nodes, Body Location or Region is a specific kind of Spatial Concept, which in turn is specific kind of Idea or Concept, which in turn is specific kind of Conceptual Entity.
Thus, Body Location or Region is a specific kind of Conceptual Entity.
C. Conceptual Entity
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with exactly__________other semantic types. --As mentioned in the problem statement, the lower node “is a” specific kind of the higher node and such relationships are passed down to any subsequent nodes.
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with Physical Object, which in turn has an "is a" relationship with Entity. Thus, Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with Physical Object and Entity.
Note : The "is a" relationship does not pass down to lower nodes.

Given that, Firm line means "lower node is a relationship with upper node", where dotted arrow "arrow heads may be associated with arrow generated cases".
Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with___________.
Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with spatial concept, Idea or concept and Conceptual Entity.
A. Body Space or Junction B. Body Substance C. Conceptual Entity - Correct. D. Finding E. Qualitative Concept
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with exactly__________other semantic types.
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with Physical Object.

Body Location or Region has an “is a” relationship with___________.
A. Body Space or Junction.....Its is a Possible association. Not an "is a" relationship with Body Location B. Body Substance......Its is a Possible association. Not an "is a" relationship with Body Location C. Conceptual Entity.....Spatial concept=>Idea or Concept=>Conceptual Entity D. Finding.....It is in a different vertical. In that same parallel Body location is connected with Idea or concept E. Qualitative Concept.....It is in a different vertical. In that same parallel Body location is connected with Spatial Concept
Anatomical Structure has an "is a" relationship with exactly__________other semantic types.
An "is a" relationship is with the parental node and not with the subsequent node. Fully Formed Anatomical Structure=> Anatomical Structure=>Physical Object=>Entity

How 3? Entity → Physical Object → Anatomical Structure. Then it is only 2. How we can take fully formed anatomical structure? Question is only about anatomical structure...right?
