Hi, Experts.

How's the usage "their being" correct in this question? It's just so weird. Is it a good question though?

I actually got this right with POE.

First thing we have to decide is singular vs plural. It’s the gorillas that are hiding as individuals and not the ‘band’ as an unit. So plural. Eliminate C, D, E.

Between A and B, B is passive and awkward. So went with A.

But I’m not sure if “being” is correct here though. 🤔

It's interesting that you mentioned "being."

It's not always incorrect to use "being," and in this case, using "being" is an effective, logical way to convey the point to be made.

MartyTargetTestPrep yes, I find 'being' a bit finicky because it's wrong so often on the GMAT. I only pick it as the correct answer if others have very serious errors. The 'being' here almost trapped me too, was going with the singular 'it' C initially.
