shouldn't 1st question answer be yes?
question is asking more favoured than both Burma and Philippines. We can see Sri Lanka is more favoured than Burma, but not more than Philippines.
Bunuel, chetan2u, KarishmaB please help.

1. The question asks us to figure out which of the following statements are true and which are false.

2. First, we should find the median for each index:

- Domestic Economy Index: 5.
- Credit Rating Index: 3.2.
- Infrastructure Index: 53.
- Policy Framework Index: 5.5.

3. No other listed country is more favored than Burma and Philippines. Burma is favorable for 2 indices and the Philippines are favored for 4 indices. However, Sri Lanka is also favored for 4 indices. So, this statement is false.

4. Nepal and Afghanistan are not favored per any of the indices. Nepal's credit rating index is 4.2, which is larger than the median 3.2, making it favorable in that category. So, this statement is false.

5. There are at least 2 countries that are favored per all indices. As shown earlier, Sri Lanka and the Philippines are favored in all 4 indices. So, this statement is true.

Burma is favored on only 2 indices; Sri Lanka and the Philippines are favored on 4, so others are more favored than Burma. Therefore the answer is no.

Hey, Isnt Burma favourable against 3 indices?

Burma is favored on 2 indices, not 3.

South Asian
Countries
Domestic Economy
Index (10)
Credit Rating
Index (5)
Infrastructure
Index (100)
Policy Framework
Index (10)
Afghanistan33.2344
Bangladesh62.2477
Bhutan53.2525
Burma53.2546
Nepal44.2485
Pakistan53.2545
Philippines64.2747
Sri Lanka63.8747

  • Domestic Economy: 5 compared to the median of 5, not greater, so not favored.
  • Credit Rating: 3.2 compared to the median of 3.2, not greater, so not favored.
  • Infrastructure: 54 compared to the median of 53, greater, so favored.
  • Policy Framework: 6 compared to the median of 5.5, greater, so favored.

That makes 2 indices in total.

ah thank you, one of the solutions posted here put the wrong median value for one of the indices, thus creating confusion. Thank you!

Bunuel

  • Domestic Economy: 5 compared to the median of 5, not greater, so not favored.
  • Credit Rating: 3.2 compared to the median of 3.2, not greater, so not favored.
  • Infrastructure: 54 compared to the median of 53, greater, so favored.
  • Policy Framework: 6 compared to the median of 5.5, greater, so favored.

That makes 2 indices in total.
