Hey guys,
Have a really specific question that I'd love to get your feedback on. I'll keep this as brief as I can.
Profile:
Ethnicity: Asian Male
Location: US citizen in US
GMAT: 760
GPA: 3.5 in Engineering from southern ivy (Rice/Duke/Vanderbilt)
Work: Strategy consultant in top 5, well recognized but non-MBB consulting firm
Applied to top 7 schools in Rounds 1 and 2:
Ding without interview: HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Sloan
Ding with interview: Booth
WL with interview: Haas
ADMITTED: Kellogg (R2)
Was just about to put down my deposit when today I learned that I was fast track promoted to Manager from Consultant. Usually, it takes folks an average of 4 years at Consultant level to get promoted to Manager (plus you usually need an MBA). I made Manager in 1.5 years without an MBA which is legitimately a record in the firm. And the firm is very big.
So basic question: assuming all other things constant (my project stories haven't changed much), would I stand a better chance at H/S/W next year if I re-apply? Will this promotion to Manager in 1.5 years be viewed as a game changer for them? Or will they not be too impressed? I think I would only apply if this development gave me a roughly 85% shot at H/S/W
You're an Asian male from an overrepresented career path, go to Kellogg, this promotion probably won't change your chances that much. Don't risk it.
