Is it possible to be admitted to Columbia, Kellogg, NYU Stern, Duke which have no cut-off score with the score - 98? (23, 28, 22, 25)?

Hi all,

I have the same questions.
Can we get into top 10 B-Schools in US with a score slightly less than 100?

Thank you.

Got the toefl score today. 107/120 (Reading : 29 , Listening:23  , Speaking:26 :o , Writing : 29 )

I previously took the GMAT ( 680/Q49/V33/5.5AWA) , and I just purchased the Princeton Review Guide ( fantastic book) , and took the free Toefl test. For anybody able to get V35+ in Gmat , Toefl should be a cake-walk.

Pathetic test center in Kolkata , Speaking section had to be rescheduled 3 times as my voice was not recognised by the system  , even after people from the other room were able to hear me answering the same question "Describe the City you live in " for testing purposes. At one point , I was shouting "test , test , test , ....."

Even then , I was really confident about the Listening section , and felt that I messed up the Speaking section... did not even justify my stance in Q1 and Q2 as my time (45secs and 60secs were up). So was quite surprised to see the Listening and Speaking scores.

Hope I do not need to retake the Toefl for extra 2 marks in Listening section. Although , I will have to take the GMAT again.

Tips for Speaking : Practice debating for 45-60 secs, make just 1/2 points without any detailed introduction. Time is of essence here.

I scored 109 on my first attempt. I want to apply to top 10 Ivy League schools.
Should I retake?

Does an improvement from 109 to let's say 115 really matter?

Hi, I think you need to check to your target school for the TOEFL Score.

As far as I know, there are some school that have minimum TOEFL score.

Indeed, all the schools consider a minimum for the TOEFL score. But their minimum is 100 or less than 100. Actually I have never seen a university with a TOEFL minimum over 100; so, having an iBT TOEFL over 100 in considered satisfactory. Also less than 80 is not acceptable for most of the universities.

Received 98 on my first attempt (only couple of days of studying): 27/24/22/25
Is it really important to score 100+ to get into TOP 20 BS (excl. Harvard, Stanford)

I know that if I train my speaking session the result will be a bit higher: 102-103. But I`m not sure is it worth doing?
Guys, what do you think about it?

Thanks in advance!

Is TOEFL required if your undergrad education was in English medium. Do i need to give toefl in that case. I'm from India...so not sure if India is among the exempted nations.

Thanks in advance
