honey1
can you plz provide the explanation for question 2 and 3
THANK YOU

Question 3- The author believes that it is incorrect to automatically assume that black experience is know to every black author. (first sentence of para 1)
The next sentence is used as a support to his first statement i.e. James was pondering the same issue was he said something.
Choice A reflects this correctly.

this is as hard as it gets!
not sure about Q2, but will give it a go. First we try to eliminate the sure wrong answers. I've quoted parts of the passage to link that these are referred to by the author, so the author believes in these statements (at least to an extent).

2. It can be inferred from the passage that the author would be LEAST likely to approve of which of the following?

(A) Courses that promote cultural awareness through the study of contemporary art
A cultural community of Black authors studying one another’s best works systematically would represent a dynamic interchange of the spirit—corrective and instructive and increasingly beautiful in its recorded expression.

(B) The development of creative writing courses that encourage mutual criticism of student work
A cultural community of Black authors studying one another’s best works systematically would represent a dynamic interchange of the spirit

(C) Growing interest in extemporaneous writing that records experiences as they occur

(D) A shift in interest from abstract philosophical poetry to concrete autobiographical poetry

(E) Workshops and newsletters designed to promote dialogues between poets
“studying his own poetry and the poetry of other Black poets,” touches on the crucial point.

Ok so we are left with

(C) Growing interest in extemporaneous writing that records experiences as they occur

(D) A shift in interest from abstract philosophical poetry to concrete autobiographical poetry

None of C or D is explicitly stated in the passage. So the answer to this question must be that the author disagrees (even if mildy) to one of these statements.

Option C talks about interest in extemporaneous writing.
Extempore = without preparation
In order to transform his own sufferings—or joys—as a Black person into usable knowledge for his readers, the author must first order his experiences in his mind. Only then can he create feelingly and coherently the combination of fact and meaning that Black audiences require for the re exploration of their lives.

So in the passage the author talks about the following steps -
1. order his experiences
2. re-explore these experiences of their lives

This is certainly NOT extemporaneous behaviour. I'd tend to agree answer is C.
The author does not agree or disagree with option D, so this is neutral.
Since author disagrees with option C, Option C must be the LEAST like to approve of it.

Answer : C
