 persists  is a verb ... so we should use ' as ' rather than ' like '

In questions of the use of ‘ like vs. as’ , you must be clear about what follows these words, whether a noun or noun phrase or a clause. In some cases, when the word ‘ as ’ is used as a preposition, then it may not be followed by a clause, as in choice B
