Just so everybody knows: I am a J-Term applicant. Just called the admissions office and they told me I was accepted. Just wanted to let people know that if they miss a call from the admssions office and get an email to call them back to have a "brief chat" it probably means you are in. They told me they like to call people before they change theirs status online...I was really nervous because I thought they were going to ask me questions about certain things but it was just then welcoming me to CBS...Good luck everyone!!! Hang in there!

Big congrats!!

Next J-Termer who gets the call should ask how much longer us ED applicants are going to have to wait!

If you reference the timeline of those who have been ED apps and gotten dinged last week/this week and when their status went complete.. I don't think there are "too" many people on the forums that are ED waiting on a decision. It's probably a handful of us, all of whom are very actively posting though, who are actually waiting. With that being said, I don't mind waiting if it's an admit.. but clearly.. I'd rather send in my deposit and just relax until March :P

While we still want to share the love to J-Term candidates, there's a new thread created regarding J-Terms. It makes sense to look at them separate as the fall j-term app's will be graduating 2013 with the 2011 entrants not 2012! Gobias... I'm with you on that... already have the check written !

I was at this CBS Info session in Toronto today. Interesting thing but the member of admissions presenting mentioned that each year there are a few students who in spite of having paid $6K go to other schools. She thought it was stupid to waste $6K, but it does raise the question - is the binding part of the ED limited to only that $6K and not a full admission. Any thoughts?

well they can't take a gun to a person's head and make him or her join the class. the 6k is used as collateral. It is rather unethical to reneg after signing a written pledge... although I am not surprised that it happens, the school is better off without those candidates anyway.

Got an interview invite for ED today. But I'm already planning to attend INSEAD from Jan'12.
If I decline the invite, would that be against the CBS Statement of Commitment? I hope that is valid only if you get admitted.

If you interview and you are admitted, you will be reneging on the statement of commitment when you tell them you are going to INSEAD. As losttraveler correctly said, if you have decided to attend INSEAD, you should decline the invite to interview. At this point, you are not committed to attend Columbia.

Thanks Gobias,
I'll decline it right away. The statement of commitment should be valid only upon admission. Good luck everyone else. It was a tough decision to let go of CBS invite.

Believe you have up to Oct 3rd to submit the deposit for INSEAD Jan 2012 right? So technically you could give CBS until a week before INSEAD's deadline if you're equally keen on CBS.

Of course, if you prefer INSEAD, then just ignore me :D

globalMBA: Congrats! I've met quite a few of the CBSers from Brazil and many have become some of my closest friends here. You'll be in good company :)

Hi fudge, thanks a lot for your candid opinion. Yeah there is still a month to go before INSEAD's deposit. But as one lost traveler pointed out - why waste their time?

Good luck everyone.

I'm curious, does anyone know if CBS calls non-US based ED candidates if to let them know they're accepted?

Ha, the list keeps growing. I referenced the google doc posted in 2011... those who interviewed prior to 8/20 seemed to get calls the Friday after labor day... those between 8/20-9/1 got calls the next friday or monday following. So lets hope the timeline holds true this year!

Something seems off with the file. Some rows have decision dates PRIOR to complete dates and i'm blocked from the 2011 thread file.

I had my interview on 8/20 and went complete 8/23... based solely on prior performance, when should I hear back (admit or ding)?
