ah ok. good luck. round 3 is the least agonizing choice if you're not worried about a full class.

Of course :) I wasn't even sure if I was going to apply. I had convinced myself out of that, to be honest. But then. What's there to lose?

Finally my application status changed
" Your application is complete and currently under review.
"

In case anyone is wondering, I am in R&D (if that was one of the sector choices? I don't remember)

really, today?? that's strange.

we should see some real action over the next three weeks.
@ Desi,

I thought everyone who had submitted for rd2 had their application status changed - but i guess I was wrong! Anyone still waiting for the status change??

I didn't check my application for a while, but I did check when others had reported that their status had changed, and mine still had not.

I'm in R&D too and my status changed to 'Complete and under review' couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't read too much into grouping by background, there might be other factors added in too - gender, location, etc. blah.

Sit back, relax, and err.. dont think too much about this

It's a week by week breakdown of reported interview invites. I noticed the 2010 group did something similar.

Thanks. Do you know what it looked like for R2 2011? Might be interesting to see when we can expect a spike in the invitation flow.

Based on what I saw in the 2011 thread, we all have some waiting to do. They were averaging about 2-3 invites a week starting the first week of February and then it seems that a bunch of invites came out on the 15th and 16th. I believe we are a week behind last year's dates, so maybe by the 23rd of February, we might start seeing some real movement. Of course, as always, its just a guess at this point.

2011 Tally:

1st week after status change (1)
2nd week after status change (2)
3rd week after status change (3)
4th week after status change (9)
5th week after status change (7)
6th week after status change (5)
7th week after status change (2)

We're on the 2nd week right now, so the very tiny number of invites isn't surprising.

Is it appropriate to contact your interviewer a day or two after the interview to thank them and ask for feedback?

When I interviewed at Duke and Kellogg, the interviewer gave me contact information (a business card). In such cases I think you can contact them to thank them.

When I interviewed at Booth (dinged after interview), I only knew the interviewer's first name, (although her name tag had her last name on it and I looked her up on linkedin), she gave me no contact information even after I gave her my business card. In this case I think that is a clear cut sign that you are not supposed to contact the interviewer.

On a side note, I got dinged by Duke (after being invited to interview), and I contacted my interviewer, a second year student. I asked him if he would be able to give me feedback on the interview. He said interview specific feedback was prohibited , but he emailed me a PDF with general interview tips etc, that he had recieved as part of the interview process (for corporate recruitment ) and also gave me advice about some other schools.

At this stage anything is helpful, because I am getting called for interviews and then dinged, I wonder if something is grossly wrong in my application. In all cases I did not have horrible interviews, most were relaxed. Personally I think the weight given to the interview is not as much as given to the rest of the application.

It is appropriate to send a short thank you note after your interview is complete. It is NOT appropriate to ask your interviewer for feedback, especially BEFORE a decision is rendered. It is also not appropriate to try to add additional information for your interviewer that you were unable to discuss during the interview.

A simple "thank you for your time," is sufficient.

Agree with Cheetarah on most points. Everyone, even an interviewer, is happy to get a one-two line Thank u note! So even if they have not given u a business card, I suggest u send them one, especially if they have been matched with their interviewer via an email ID, like in the case of Booth.

Also, a feedback, especially before a decision, will make u come across as immature and as someone who isn't confident about his/her own standing. However, as far as giving some additional info is concerned, while it is not advisable to add new info, u can always address any of the concerns that the interviewer may have had.

In my case, I had thanked my Chicago Booth interviewer for his honesty in highlighting one of his concerns, given his limited knowledge of my unique background. I had then added a couple of data points in my email to alleviate this concern, which I think worked out well in the end.

So, one may like to strengthen his/her point on an issue that they feel they didnt do justice to, and which may lead to a denial. Just my two cents though!

Best,
Sam
