Can anybody comment when Stanford starts inviting R2 applicants? any inferences from R1 dates?

If you read the earlier posts there were tons of inferences as to when the invites would come out. Basically every week was going to be "the week". There were "friends of friends" who got invites, I think they were in consulting, so some theories on the sector based invites going out.

Things got so bad there was one poster who made false claims and was called out on it by forum members. So in short, everybody is still in the dark about Stanford.

Read pages 10-16 of this thread. You can see people in the same boat as us wondering about invites. Looks like they were stingy with invites and they trickled throughout the application period.

I found this forum a few days ago after I did my interview. I received my invite on February 1st and did the interview on the 7th. The alum was very friendly. We spent maybe 30 minutes going over my resume because of follow up questions he asked about stories that I told. Then 15 minutes going over some behavior questions. What was the biggest challenge I faced? A time I exceeded my authority and the result? Why an MBA now? After that we talked about his career and perspectives on business school. I asked what his goals were going in and how have those changed since. We had very similar backgrounds so it was good to hear his experiences.

The email I received from Stanford said there is "no significance to the order in which interview offers are received, it only reflects the order it was processed." My name is near the beginning of the alphabet, and I had the application submitted a few days early. Maybe that explains it. I know it is very hard to sit around and wait but it sounds like they will be conducting interviews until a week before decisions are made. I imagine there are other readers of this forum that have received invitations but do not post.

Still waiting here too, although my application didn't change from "submitted" to "currently under review" until Feb 1ish.

I was at Kellogg's admit weekend Thurs-Sun and met 2 people who received R2 Stanford interview invites. In fact one had already completed his interview.

The invites are being sent out, they just haven't hit the applicants on this thread yet. As someone said before, Stanford is really that one app that you have to submit and then forget about. They do NOT send invites in waves nor is there a mid decision date. Watching the Stanford pot boil is an exercise in futility.

Weird question for you all.
I was dinged in R1. Now I'm choosing between Sloan and waiting for a year to take another swing at HBS and Stanford.
What would you guys do in this situation?

Hi,

I was in similar situation few years ago about another Master's program. I decided to wait for a year because I figured out what was hurting my application. (I was trying to switch from engineering to international relations)

I decided to do more research. Took some classes related to what I wanted to do to improve my GPA and start taking steps towards the career I wanted to pursue after the degree. I know this might sound like cliche' but it helped me. I did not end up going to the program because of economic reasons but I was accepted.

I definitively would go for Sloan. Things happen for a reason!
