Hi there,

After the interview, does the application status change ?

My interview status still says "Invited". However, I completed my interview on Friday last week.

Should I receive any update for my interview already conducted ?

I believe your status should eventually change to "complete", but you will not receive an email notification when this happens.

I've got a bit of a random question: does anyone have thoughts on how much of an impact a letter (sent independent of LORs) from a Fuqua alum will have on your candidacy? While I think Fuqua values perspectives from alums (because it is a fit-based school), I don't know how much weight those letters actually pull.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Stripes, no wonder you are the king of this town ;)

It says complete on the application status

But submission status says submitted, and on the interview status it says invited...

According to what you said, I draw that interview status will change to completed and I can observe that by checking my online application, but most probably, I won't receive any e-mail notification for that...Am I right ?

Thanks man, I hope to join to Blue Devils

I don't think they would make it an option for alums to send in supplemental letters of recommendation if they didn't believe that it is a valuable tool. All I would say is that if you know an alum who knows you well enough to give concrete examples of why you should be admitted, then take advantage of the opportunity. Why waste the potential incremental advantage, right?

Hah - I had no idea I have gained such status.

Your status should remain as is. The interview status will no longer change. The next time you will hear from AdCom is on 3/20.

Good luck!

Stripes - I guessing I wasn't questioning whether alums' supplemental LORs are worthwhile so much as I was wondering whether anyone has a feel for whether Fuqua values alums' perspectives vis-a-vis other schools. I have heard (albeit anecdotally) that supplemental letters from alums don't carry much weight during the admissions process at many other schools. From what I've seen and heard, it seems that Fuqua skews heavily toward caring what alums think and that type of feedback would make a meaningful difference in the process at Duke. Regardless, you're entirely correct - if there's an alum that can write on your behalf, it's worth capturing any incremental upside.

Thanks...

I was a little bit of nervous about this...I even thought of contacting Duke about the status...No need then...So, the killer wait begins...

Just received my 2nd survey to take about my interview experience...assuming this is just an automatically generated email snafu since I didn't interview twice...

Posted from my mobile device

I got the same email.
Not going to lie, I get really excited whenever I receive a Fuqua email (though I'm not exactly sure what I expect to hear before the 20th)

Me too!! I know they won't tell us anything before then but I can't help myself from hoping...best of luck and hopefully I'll see you at BDW.

Guys, which survey are you talking about? I never received any such survey. I was interviewed on the 15th of Feb.

A lot of us were sent surveys after the interview/on-campus visit. Perhaps it only went out to those people who actually went to Durham and participated in their day activities (because part of the survey asked about that too). However the top of the survey did ask to specify whether you were interviewing on-campus or off (and asked for the location of your interview).

I think it was just randomly sent out by the system to a bunch of people. Also, it doesn't seem to be associated with an account as I clicked my link again and it didn't recognize that I had already submitted my survey earlier (so it was just a generic link). Technically I could do the survey many many times over, if I wanted to.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

So you interviewed with Russell? I don't think he did any actual interviews here in Shanghai, must be more alumni with time on their hands down here

And no, I'm an American, but based in Shanghai. There was another prospective American student who interviewed as well, but the rest were all locals (about 20).

Then, count you in, there are three prospective American applying in Beijing & Shanghai, I never thought about that many interviewees either. It is said that only 20-30% of those applicants will be admitted. Let's hope for the best then.

I am Chinese, with some years of living in U. Personally, I prefer to speak with Adcom, instead of Chinese Alum. I've heard some people were challenged pretty badly by Chinese Alums.

Can you expound on this?

Did you mean to mention Duke's 25% acceptance rate?

Because from what I know, they interview around 55% of applicants. Thus, they accept almost half of the people they interview.

Well, just to let you guys know that I'm one of the American perspective students interviewed in Shanghai, but I look completely Chinese! As far as I observed, among the alum interviewers in Shanghai only one of them is actually American (a lady). I saw a white guy (could be one of you guys ^o^) interviewed with her before me. So I wonder if Fuqua assigned all the American applicants to the American interviewer. (of course this doesn't really matter regarding our candidacy.)

I also heard that only about 20-30% of the people interviewed in China will be admitted, but since we are in the domestic applicant pool, I guess this speculation doesn't apply to us. Any idea?

I did. I assume that anyone who checked the CASE box in the application got the email.
