Does anyone know the current status for R3 applications?
Mine app went under review on Feb 14th and I haven't heard anything back from the AdCom since..... time to write it off?

When i scheduled my interview it seemed the last day to interview is Friday. Not saying it cannot happen, just saying at this point I would not expect more then a few invites to trickle out.

I Don't agree, judging from the response someone earlier got from adcom saying they still
Have much of r3 to review, and from the fact most/all ppl that went under review around feb 14 have heard nothing.
I'm still confident of hearing something.

Just another data point, my app went under review on Feb 10, and got invited to interview on 3/5. I visited for two days last week and between the two days there were probably around 8-10 ppl total that were being interviewed.

In addition, the admissions director, Christine Sneva gave birth to a baby the week of 3/5 and was going to be out for that entire week, possibly more. I can imagine the admissions office is a bit overloaded at the moment, but if they are behind schedule it is totally understandable given the circumstances.

I am getting up to Ithaca on the 15th also. Let me know if you want to grab a beer or tea (might be too late for coffee)

I have an interview with Johnson in the next few days. From the previous posts, I got to know that some of the interview questions are "Tell me about a time when you had to settle a conflict within a team setting" or "Tell me about a time when you had to take a tough decision." Could someone give me more insight about these two questions. It would be really helpful!

Tell me about a time when you had to settle a conflict within a team setting

I was asked a similar when I interviewed with Fuqua, except my question was "tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult person". This is kind of a negotiation 101 question, except your goal is to negotiate a dispute rather than a deal. Ideally, you want to ensure that both parties walk away feeling satisfied, with neither thinking any lesser of themselves after the conflict had been resolved.

You could outline an example where there were tensions, either between 2 different teams or between 2 members of your team and how you pacified the tensions without resorting to back-stabbing eg - straight away informing a higher up that x & y were proving detrimental to the project. You want to paint yourself as someone who examined the arguments of both sides and then played moderator between the two and made them besties again :). Note that the part about escalating to higher authorities may be used if it was truly the last course of action that had to be taken. The success of the team precedes any individual relationships, so you are better of coming across as someone who is not afraid to call under-performers and poor team players out when all diplomatic measures have been exhausted rather than someone who is afraid to do so at the risk of ruining relationships. You certainly don't want to come across as someone who plays favorites and only listens to one side of the story.

Eg: You had a X come to you, stating that Y is taking up all the credit for X's work and you asked X to begin looping you in when submitting all deliverables so you are aware as to who did the work.

Tell me about a time when you had to take a tough decision.

With this one, you would want to focus on an instance where you were faced with a situation where, at face value, there were major pros and cons that came with making either decision. You also want to then demonstrate how you performed maximum due diligence within a limited time frame to make a decision that ultimately proved to be the right one.

Your ultimate objective here is to show that you are a risk taker, albeit a smart one, who examines all possible contexts before deciding on a course of action that is best for the "team", but one where you were the central figure. It could also be one where you drew upon your past experience and went with your gut. You absolutely want to avoid painting yourself as weak, arrogant or reckless - i.e. making a decision that is the hallmark of a poor leader such as "avoiding change simply because you enjoy the status quo".

A relevant professional example could be having to make a decision to pull out of a project that is doomed to failure. You may have already invested a lot of time, money and resources, but you are aware that no matter what you or the team does, continuing to go ahead with the same will only waste more of the same so it is best to count your losses and pull out while you can. The key however is to conclude with a positive ending. It needn't always be that the decision was successful, it can also be one where you ended up learning a valuable lesson. (if the decision did not prove to be the right one)

A great real-life example that would provide some context is Obama's decision to go ahead with the assassination of Osama bin Laden. Had he failed, he would have been chastised for putting the army at risk, risking civilian casualties and would be accused of breaching the trust of the local authorities without any substantiative evidence. Since he succeeded, he was hailed as a hero who was well aware of the risks I just mentioned yet pressed ahead with the decision as he felt that the "chance of success" outweighed the risk of failure.

Hope this helps and good luck with your interview.

Where did you get the registration link? The link I see in the online decision letter brings me to the ning login page but that page says I should click the link in an email...

I think I remember reading someone say that they give out responses before their deadline. Can anyone confirm this? I'm a R3.

I'm an international applicant too, and Johnson is the only school I haven't heard anything yet. Painful. (R3)
