Curious for those who got invited to interview and applied for ED. Did your application went complete on Oct 2/3 (i.e. did all your references send in the form?) Mine references sent in theirs couple of days later. A

It is most likely the good news call from CBS. All the best.
Quick question, I missed a call from an unknown number (went complete about a week ago)
any thoughts about if this could be CBS and do they call back same day.....

I missed a call from an unknown number last Friday and didn't get my admit call until Tuesday afternoon. I didn't outright ask if they had tried to contact me the previous week but the admissions officer did say "Glad we got in touch with you" so I think it might have been them. I know it's easier said then done but I wouldn't stress too much if you don't hear on Monday even.
Congrats! Looks like slowly but surely we're moving along. Just wondering, who is making these phone calls - Amanda Carlson?

I was in such shock I may have heard the name wrong but I believe my call came from Charley Burkly. She's the Assistant Director of Admissions and ran the info session I attended in August.
Will applying in December have any effect on my chances to get admitted as oppose to applying in November? Does it matter at all?

Columbia is one of the few schools that says outright that applying earlier is better, all else equal. Ultimately, you'll need to be the judge as to whether that extra time will be worth the reduced admissions chances (i.e., fewer seats are available later in the Columbia application cycle).
Do you guys know if applying for merit fellowship affects your chances of getting admitted. I couldn't find anything on columbia gsb's website which suggested this. I would imagine most people would select the merit based scholarship option when they fill up their application.

I am wondering the same... also will applying for merit fellowship slow down the process?
<apologies for the repost but got no responses the first time>
does cbs notify applicants if they are not invited to interview? i.e. if i dont get an invite within 6-8 weeks do i assume it is a ding by default or do they actually give an update to those not invited?

You don't have to assume its a ding by default. They will give you a decision one way or the other. If its taking a long time that either means there is a long queue or it means that your profile is not bad enough to ding immediately so they will wait and see more applicants before taking a decision. Its a good thing so don't worry.

Doesn't slow anything down. I checked the Merit Fellowship box. Got my interview invite 2 weeks after submitting my app and accepted 8 days after interviewing. I kind of assumed everybody checked that box if they applied early enough.
i applied ED on 9/26 as well, and still haven't heard anything. i'm applying for a dual degree, and am already in my first year at another columbia school. all i can say is that this forum is making me quite anxious!
