All hope isn't lost... yet. The stats don't quite line up with last year's "Stanford GSB 2013 - Calling all Applicants" thread...
In R1, it looks like 42 (15%) of GMATclub applicants got interviews. This year, it's sitting at 15 (4%). This means a few things:
1) GMATClub R1 applicants are of less quality this year
2) People have not been updating their profiles
3) They're going to send out a huge wave of invites tomorrow
Fingers crossed for the third option!
As much as I hope for a Stanford wave, someone a few pages back mentioned a logical flaw in these types of arguments. People always derive hope from seeing a larger % of people get invites from prior years, and conclude that another wave must be coming. But it doesn't take into account the following two factors:
- Historically, a lot of people join gmatclub AFTER they interview or get admitted (so not part of the big pool of R1 applicants you see now), pushing up the # interviewed after the decision release date
- After people get rejected, they opt to remove the school rather than post the "Ding", thereby shrinking the # of applicants after the decision release date
Both of those push up the % invited / interviewed, which is why we always see that in prior years 1) fewer people "apply", and 2) more people interview.
