Does it matter if I sign up earlier vs later?

Shanghai is more convenient but much later than everywhere else

HBSGuru and other consultants have all said that the date/time of the interview slot makes no difference, so you should be fine with Shanghai.

The interview slot is filling up so fast!

In shanghai, 70% of all slots already filled up and only 15 mins after the e-mail was sent! That was fast!

To those who were invited - Congratulations :-D
Chin up to those who were not invited - there is always next wednesday and if not other schools  You are in esteemed company
Just to let you know how much of a crap shoot the selection process is, I will give you a couple of examples from previous years
1. Rhodes Scholar, 3.8 GPA, 770 GMAT, 3 years in a fortune 50 company - did not even get an interview
2. Churchill Scholar, 3.9 GPA, 750 GMAT, 2 years in top 3 consulting firm - did not even get an interview
All adcoms say that they look for leadership qualities and fit (that is fully vetted by the prestigious and selective scholarships - Rhodes, Marshall and Churchill) but the whole process seems to be mysterious.
Please dont loose hope. Behind every rejection is the seed of success - Remember Thomas Edison

Congrats to all those who got accepted, and good luck to the rest for Wave 2!

I had a couple of questions regarding interviews, was hoping someone could answer them:

1) So I'm deciding between flying to an interview location/skype interview. Does the forum feel it hurts one's chances if interviews are done on skype? What are some of the cons? Have acceptance rates been lower for skype interviewees, as compared to those who interviewed in person?

2) What is the probability of people getting accepted from the interview phase? as in, 1 in how many candidates gets in, historically.

3) In the interview phase, is decision based solely on the basis of interview performance? or are factors already considered in app processing, part of the evaluation in this phase too? (GMAT/work experience etc)

Thanks!

I didn't get an interview :(, but I'd like to share some of my opinions on interviews:
Officially, they say there's no difference between face to face and Skype, and I believe them. I think the difference depends on the applicant (and his/her network quality). If you get nervous facing them and your hands get sweaty cold before shaking, you may find Skype more relaxing and thus perform better. On the other hand, if you are more comfortable talking to people across a table, by all means go on campus. If you know your network is unstable, go on campus. If you live reasonable close, go on campus.

I was told the following at an on campus info session:

1) No difference

2) about 1800 will interview, about 1000 will be accepted (all rounds)

3) The interview is just an additional data point. Following the interview the candidate will be judged based on their entire application, including the interview.

Hope this helps. Best of luck on the interview!

Hi,

Congrats to all those who got an invite!

Did anyone in India/South Asia get an interview invitation? Is Mumbai coming as an option in the drop-down list for interview slots?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

It looks like nearly all spots were filled. but I reckon that to be fair, they only release as many spots as they need to. I am pretty sure more spots on the same days will become available next week.

How do you know all spots were filled? Where did you receive this information?

The interface basically has a calendar with dates, green for available, grey for filled, and white for no-interview days (specific dates and times can be found on the HBS website). For on-campus and New York, most formerly green days are now grey. No idea how many spots are available for each time slot, but I assume they will open up more spots as more invites get sent out. Hope that helps!

Round One Interview Invitations

If it's helpful, our plan is to send out some interview invitations at NOON today, Boston time. Via email. Nothing until noon.

And we'll send more on October 16. "
