no i am not saying i will definitely get into duke or hbs or any school.. but that i have worked hard on my essays, gmat on my applications in general. spoken to people ..attended admission events and have a good story..beyond that nothing is in my control...and secondly duke or hbs isn't going to define you at the end of the day..its what you do in life that will..so relax work hard on ur app and accept the adcoms decision...if i don't get in this yr in the 5 schools i applied i will try again next yr and work harder.. thats it!

sure given an option HBS is where i want to be coz of the unmatched intellectual platform and the most amazing alumni network in the world...but duke is also awesome...secondly u should never work with a consultant..its yr story,yr application and it should be in your words...but thats my opinion.. i would never pay thousands of $$$ to these consultants so that they can edit a few things here and there...i have had a good undergrad education and can write polished essays..i don't need a consultant...third as far as duke goes...they have a 50% yield so the acceptance is close to 30-35%.if you did well in your interviews and yr essays are good demonstrating fit then u should get a good enough chance...just don't stress and relax! HBS is a long shot for all applicants as only 18% or so get interviewed...be honest and put in your best is all i can say!

Do we know how many seats have been given after R1?
Do we have an estimation of how many candidates are applying in R2 among the estimated 9,000-10,000 candidates?

Trying my best to be optimistic but I keep thinking that if the 800-100 still works this year, no invite tomorrow means that your chances go down to roughly 2.7% if we estimate the number of applicants to be 4,500 in R2...

I don't think anyone here knows for sure how many seats were given to R1 applicants. estimate should be 450-500

Applicants in R2 - my estimate would be ~5000-6000 (or even bigger)

Don't think about your chances after TOMORROW for your own peace of mind. for all i know you could get an invite tomorrow.

I would say 6000 applicants and actually about 500 seats. I think round 1 would be more like 350 seats.i say a 1000 get invited to interview. So roughly 20% shot at an interview.just kick back and relax.

28 JAN 2014
Round 2 Interview Invitations

Good morning!

Tomorrow, January 29th, we will send out the first of two waves of interview invitations. We hope this will be at 12:00 noon Boston time and they will arrive as an email from Harvard Business School. Interview invitations contain detailed information about locations and the process for signing up for an interview.

We will send "many," but not "all" invitations tomorrow. The second wave will go out on February 5th. At that time we will also send "releases" to candidates who are not being invited to interview. There will also be a small number of candidates we would like to "further consider" in Round 3.

All 2+2 interview decisions will be sent on February 5.

I'm aware of all the speculation about how many invitations go out in each wave and if certain geographies or backgrounds are more likely to go out in the first vs. second wave. How we split up these waves varies from year to year and to avoid a lot of algorithms being built out there by those with far more sophisticated quant skills than we possess in Dillon, I'd rather just leave it at "many" and "some." I can assure you that geography and background have nothing to do with the waves - it's all about human beings here in Dillon reading a lot of applications thoroughly. We devote a great amount of effort to finding the right balance between minimizing your wait-time and maximizing the care and attention we give to each application. We are not running your applications through any kind of machine - we're reading them. And reading again.

If you don't receive an invitation on January 29th, please don't send in additional materials or letters of support. I understand the impulse, but please don't.

And, as always, I really do understand that waiting is hard.
