Disappointing lack of news for me.
What's the consensus on how many interview invites go out the first week vs the second week? My hunch is that the majority went out today, and next week's round is just about filling the gaps.
No consensus, but your hunch is accurate. Dee recently stated that "most" would go out today, and "some" would go out next week. There was speculation earlier in this thread that the breakout is 8:1 or 8:2.
I'm in the same boat as you. Congrats again to all those who got invited!
Okay, let's follow the numbers. It's all I can do to distract myself from the gut-punch of not hearing today. I'm feeling like I want to barf and also take a nap, and it's only 10:26am here.
Approximately 10,000 applicants per year, and they interview 2x as many as they admit. With an admit rate of ~12%, approximately 2400 interviews get done during the annual cycle. HBS states they admit roughly 50% of the class in R2, which gives us ~450. So we assume 900 invites, split between today and next week. Since the ratio is a mystery, we're guessing as to the split, but that means that we're probably looking at between 600-800 invites that went out today and between 100-300 next week.
If I thought I didn't sleep well last night, next Tuesday will be a whole other thing...
