i also got an invite :)

does anyone have an opinion on whether it's advantageous to interview on-campus or off-campus? i'm based in NYC, so it wouldn't necessarily be a huge hassle to go to Boston.

best of luck to those waiting for the second wave next week-

Disappointing lack of news for me.

What's the consensus on how many interview invites go out the first week vs the second week? My hunch is that the majority went out today, and next week's round is just about filling the gaps.
No consensus, but your hunch is accurate. Dee recently stated that "most" would go out today, and "some" would go out next week. There was speculation earlier in this thread that the breakout is 8:1 or 8:2.

I'm in the same boat as you. Congrats again to all those who got invited!

Okay, let's follow the numbers. It's all I can do to distract myself from the gut-punch of not hearing today. I'm feeling like I want to barf and also take a nap, and it's only 10:26am here.

Approximately 10,000 applicants per year, and they interview 2x as many as they admit. With an admit rate of ~12%, approximately 2400 interviews get done during the annual cycle. HBS states they admit roughly 50% of the class in R2, which gives us ~450. So we assume 900 invites, split between today and next week. Since the ratio is a mystery, we're guessing as to the split, but that means that we're probably looking at between 600-800 invites that went out today and between 100-300 next week.

If I thought I didn't sleep well last night, next Tuesday will be a whole other thing...

To those of you who got invites: when did you submit your application?

I'm wondering if these notifications are the "earlier" applications and they essentially reviewed/decided in the order applicants submitted. Anyone have any insight into how that works or if there's no pattern?

I had no idea the first wave of invites were going out today, until I saw the e-mail in my inbox. FC from R1, I let myself completely forget that my application was still alive...definitely a nice surprise

I know there's still the Feb 5th notification date but I'm preparing for the worst. Back to GMAT studying to get over the 700 hurdle.

Btw, Congrats to all who got the invite today!

In terms of where you interview affecting your chances of acceptance - it doesn't at all. But they give a bunch of presentations (for instance, from the career center) and offer class visits on interview days on campus, so interviewing on campus is beneficial from that perspective.
