gentlejack: The invitation was straightforward. They provided a link to the scheduler and gave information on other activities you could do during the day before/after the interview. I've already visited the school during an open house, but if you haven't before the interview I would highly recommend sitting in on a class and experiencing First Coffee.

Extra-curriculars/community: I have volunteered extensively with my local farmer's markets (going from volunteer to market manager), while also organizing social clubs. I'm in the process of applying to the DAR (genealogy is a major interest of mine). I've also taken a lot of post-grad classes in marketing and accounting to make up for my less quantitative background.
