Any first rounders use Sandy (HBSGuru) for interview prep? Was it worth the $550?
pxiceI just had my interview prep session with HBS Guru today....I thought he was pretty solid. I'm happy to have done it right at the beginning of my interview prep....I think his advice will really help point me in the right direction when preparing for interview season (not just HBS). He also wasn't afraid to give me his version of what he thought I should say for certain questions, which I thought was great. It was cool that he reviewed my whole application ahead of time so he could really understand my pitch.
He definitely wasn't as harsh as I was expecting. He has the reputation for being pretty tough/harsh (if you read Poets and Quants or anything else online about him). But in reality, he was really helpful and just wants to cut through the BS as rapidly as possible. He said many times...the simple/real/true answer is always the best one. Don't drum things up for the sake of sounding grandiose or worldly or something.
Also, immediately upon confirming my time slot with him, he sent me a long list of commonly asked HBS questions. After concluding the prep session, he sent me a 50+ PAGE document of recent interview reports from other applicants....what they were asked, where their interview took place, who their interviewers were, etc, etc. I haven't even begun looking at it, but I think that reviewing others' experiences should really help calm the nerves as I get closer to the interview date (on-campus on Feb 19th, in case anyone else is going to be there and wants to meet up!).
EDIT: To answer your original question....was it worth the $550? I'll let you know after the admit decisions go out....
