I had classmates who were admitted after interviewing via sat-phone....granted, it was because they were in the middle of nowhere in Afghanistan without internet access and without the option of flying to Boston or a hub city, but it is possible.

I think there are no rules and they would have not offered the Skype option if you could not get in through it, but it will certainly impair your chances. Not sure what your situation is, but I would do everything in my power to get to a hub city and some face to face time with an ADCOM member.
Can anybody point me to a video of a traditional harvard classroom? I'm unable to make it to an on-campus interview, but I would really like to sit in on a class to see how the case study method really works. Thank you in advance!
