I think generally people that applied in r2 are getting calls. Not sure about r3.

I am no expert here, but knowing Stern, I would suggest to try to improve your gmat in the next three weeks or so.

Thanks for your inputs. I have been contemplating about it but cannot do it in the next 3 weeks. I took the gmat back in May 2011 so will take me much longer to prepare. Will definitely send in an update letter (unsure about a reco and school visit yet) and also wait to hear back from some other schools.

I think the 700 GMAT is fine. I would try to just send updates as you mentioned outlining new extra curricular activities, projects at work, awards, etc. Additionally, continue to talk to people from the school and attend events and let admissions know things of interest you may have learned from these discussions.

When does NYU do their background check? I see they say 'in the spring.' But when is the Spring? March 1st or March 30?

Email admissions - on the accepted student page it just says in the Spring.
