So after confirming my interview, the interview scheduler reverts back and says the 2nd year student isn't available on those dates and will get back to me this week with my final schedule :? ... and I already booked my plane tickets to New York.

What's the main difference (in approach, tone etc.) when interviewing with 2nd years and adcom members? All the interviews I've done so far are with either Alums or 2nd years. No experience yet with AdCom.

I did not ask details about my interviewer. They just dropped me a note that my interviewer will meet me there. Did you ask them directly about it?

I think to perform an interview with both a JAG member and an ad-com member has its own pros and cons. I may not be the right source for such a judgment however I feel due to their deep interview experience , ad-com members may help you to feel more relaxed (at least I felt it when I had mine in a personal meeting with an ad-com member). Nevertheless, an Alum or 2nd year student could understand your anxiety or could condone your mistakes since they passed through the same way. I am quite sure our experts in here have more words to say about such difference.

No I didn't. The only way I found out is the Admissions Office scheduler forwarded me an email from my interviewer saying he can't do the time slot that I requested BUT the AdCom office confirmed.

I've done interviews for 2nd years for other programs and it's very relaxed actually. Never had any problems with any of them.

Admitted! Just got the call 30min ago maybe. They say it'll be official tomorrow. Best of Luck to everyone else!

Think I was admitted yesterday the 24th since I did receive a call from an adcom member.

Do they call WL guys and gals?

Left a vm for that person later on.

I did my interview with an adcom member but this was before students came back from break. This was back in early Jan.

Depending on when you are scheduled to have your int, it could very well be with a director of admissions. That person will have notes on your file.

One tough question asked was what other schools are you applying to and why such a diverse mix? (not verbatim)

I had no idea they sent out admits on a rolling basis. Was under the impression all would be announced the same day. I got my interview invite for round 2 in mid January and scheduled my interview for March 2. Really wish I scheduled earlier now!

Same sentiment here although I got my invite just last week. I scheduled my interview for mid March. But I'm an international student so that was the only time I could get off work and fly to NY to head upstate to Ithaca.

Goodluck to you!

afrofrasian, I'm pretty sure you're in. Congrats!

I don't think they'd call if you were waitlisted, and definitely not if you're denied. My reasoning is that the admissions office is likely too small to handle that type of load.

Let us know for sure, but I'm fairly sure you're in if you got a call!

The person I spoke with said statuses will be updated today, so be on the look out.

Since the acceptance is on a rolling basis, when is it safe to think that you will be dinged after your interview? Looks like some people get accepted after a week from their interview. Is that a good assumption? Thank you.

Hey I just wanted to give some information on the impossible parking situation on campus. Stop by the location on the Google map there is a little booth where you can get a parking pass for $10 all day.

This is more or less right next to sage hall.

First off, congrats to all of the recent admits! That's pretty exciting that they aren't dragging you along for another month.

Next, I interviewed yesterday. Wanted to share my report (with pictures).

My interviewer was a second year student. Things were pretty standard. It appeared my interviewer had a copy of my application and resume but had not read through the application thoroughly.
1) Walk through resume
1a) More detail about a specific part of my resume that always raises eyebrows with interviewers.
2) Why MBA? Why now?
3) Why Johnson?
4) What are your goals post-graduation?
5) Explain current responsibilities at work.
6) What are you looking to get out of an MBA?
[edit: remembered another question]) Have you connected with any current students at Johnson?
7) Have any questions?

After my interview I wandered around a bit, got some food, chatted with some current students I know at Cornell, and then headed back home.

Finally, pictures! I apologize for the somewhat crummy quality. I was using my cell phone and my hands were cold so I wasn't concerned about getting things perfect.

I stayed on North Campus with a relative of a friend who is a current student. Walking to Central from North, I passed the Hot Truck, which is a non-campus food source that is pretty popular.

One side of the bridge that crosses the gorge separating North and Central campus.

The other side of said bridge. This one looks at the dam that is frozen over right now.

Detour through the snow-covered Arts Quad.

Grabbed lunch at the Ivy Room in Williard Straight Hall.

Cornell's clock tower.

Sage Hall (where Johnson is housed).

Sage Hall from next to the Engineering Quad sundial.

Sage Hall from across the street at the Statler. Note the TCAT bus stop to the left of the photo.

Purity Ice Cream. This stuff is delicious and probably on par with Cornell Dairy's.

I feel like they've got some poor intern that has to go through and email each person individually. Not sure what the delay between the online status update and the actual notification is about.
Hey guys. the topic of the amount of time it takes for them to get back to you for interview scheduling did come up while I was there for my interview. More or less if I understand correctly they have had a few people leave resulting in an office that is understaffed. So don't worry so much if it takes a bit of time for them to get back to you.

Can someone please copy the contents of the email when you were invited to interview? I was on WL without interview and have submitted an update 2 days back and today I got an email with subject (next step Cornell MBA) to schedule a consultation discussion with Director- Admissions. I am not sure whether it is an interview or not. Can someone please help here. Thanks

Content of email that I got : Please schedule a 20-minute phone consultation with me using the enclosed link. During this conversation, we can review your application profile and talk about some of the opportunities that may be of interest to you at Johnson. My team and I look forward to working with you throughout the application process.

If you have no intention of applying now or in the future, simply reply to this email and I will have your name removed from our email list.

Should that be the case, I would appreciate you letting me know whether your decision was due to personal reasons or if you've decided to apply to other programs.

I truly look forward to speaking with you and guiding you on this next important step in your career.

I was interviewed by a second year student yesterday over Skype. It went pretty well. Very relaxed and conversational. I felt it was good that I had some common ground with my interviewer so that the conversation was engaging.

And alwayswaiting you're just awesome! Thanks for the pictures, good luck!

My subject was "Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management - Interview" and then it said congrats we'd like to invite you to schedule and interview and then it talked about Super Saturday. Yours does not sound like a typical interview but it definitely sounds like a great opportunity to talk with the Director and maybe make your case. From the "talk about some of the opportunities" part maybe they want you for 1 year or Cornell Tech or Executive MBA?
