Emory one year MBA

Question

I was curious how the one year mba at Emory compares to the Cornell one year program, especially in terms of career services and industry perception?

The one year program at Cornell is considered to be more prestigious, but it is also significantly more difficult to gain acceptance to it. Both because of the standard application requirements, but also because Cornell has additional work experience and undergraduate academic hurdles.

Both have decent career services, although Cornell's placement is typically better than Emory's placement.

Sure. Emory is a very good school. Definitely not trying to knock it and if you want to stay in Atlanta, then it might be a good play.

How is the Kellogg one year MBA? Do they select candidates without bachelors in business? Their website says that one needs a bachelors in business OR equivalent amount of related courses, experience and training. Sounded a little vague....

Kellogg's one year program is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the nation. Great program if you can get in. It is very difficult to get into, however if you don't have a business degree. I'd contact the school if you have taken a number of business courses but don't have a business degree (finance, marketing, etc.)

To me it is important to see where people are going (career wise) after graduation.

The business week ranking is a great indicator of how many people end up where.

Looking at the stats I consider Emory to be quiet a hidden talent.

Sure, Kellogg offers a good start for consulting. Cornell, due to their Ivy heritage, gets you in some big companies. But if you look at the small amount of intake at Emory (compared to Kellogg) there is a good percentage ending up in big companies (also outside of Atlanta).

GMAT / Apllication strategy is to pick 4-5 schools.

If your profile suits, go for Cornell and Kellogg to have a dream and add Notre Dame and Emory to be realistic. Sure thing might be someplace where you'd enjoy the environment (University of Florida?) - and you have a good list going.
