FROM The Booth Experience: Booth Soccer World
Crack! I can still hear the sound my knee made when my body turned to hit the soccer ball, while my left cleat remained firmly attached to the ground. Crack! I fell on the green turf, and even though I felt no pain then and there, I knew something was wrong. It has been nine … Continue reading Booth Soccer World →

FROM The Booth Experience: How Boothies Spend Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving is a time to relax, eat way too much food, and enjoy some time off before the last week of classes for the winter quarter. I personally spent my Thanksgiving break at home in DC with my family, and while going home may be the norm, it’s by no means the only way Boothies … Continue reading How Boothies Spend Thanksgiving Break →

How bad did I screw myself if during the interview, when answering what I'd want to get involved with on campus, I was talking about mentoring programs with undergrads, and, talking about the undergraduate school, I said, "At Northw-", when I caught myself and corrected myself to "UChicago".

Stupid, I know, but am I overthinking? Interview ended with the interviewer telling me how frequently Booth uses the waitlist, and how many people get off it, so "don't be too worried if that happens". Not exactly the best ending to an interview, but the rest went really, really well, and he even connected me with another student who is tangentially interested in a similar topic.

The worst part is that NO, I definitely prefer Booth! I don't even know why I started saying Northwestern...I interviewed with them weeks before my Booth interview, and it was completely out of mind. I think it was just nerves, since Booth is my top choice.

Of those of you that have been interviewed, do any of your GMAT Score Reports still show "Awaiting"? I have double-checked that I have sent it to them for the correct program, and the e-mail from GMAC indicated that it had been confirmed sent months ago.

I'm aware that confirmation of GMAT scores aren't necessary until admission, but say I were to get admitted. What if I had made a typo in self-reporting my GMAT score on the application? Don't worry I have also double-checked on my submitted application that it does match my official GMAT Score Report so that's purely hypothetical, but if they really don't verify your official score up until the final admission decision, how would that situation be handled?

Since I would think they would want to avoid that type of "last-minute rejection due to typo" scenario, it worries me that my status still shows "Awaiting".

Not 100%, but pretty confident. Hard to tell in those situations. Hard to imagine he didn't. Oh well.

That is unbelievably stupid, however, will likely make 0 difference. They know everyone is applying to all similar ranked schools. By the way, B schools call themselves by their own names, not their university/undergrad names. Uchicago would be "Booth" and NW would be "Kellogg"

Right, I know that. I was specifically talking about clubs on campus that work WITH undergrads for mentoring (something I benefited from as an undergrad working with MBA students on campus). So, I was talking about how I'd love to help UChicago UNDERGRADS on campus with job search advice, etc., but instead I said "Northw-" students before correcting myself. I wasn't referring to Kellogg at all (nor didn't say Kellogg at any point, haha).

I'm inclined to agree with you this isn't a big deal, and I certainly tried to sell the fit I had with the Booth program, which is certainly different than Kellogg, but hope that didn't get mitigated by mentioning Northwestern (in any context) during the interview.

Thanks for the comments.

extremepc If I were you, I will try to not overthink about this. You can't change it anyway, right?
I am not so sure whether the interviewer will notice this, because when I read the first time what you wrote, I thought u mean your Northwestern undergraduate. Even he is fully aware of this, it is not a big deal to kill you, it will somewhat undermine the impression though. I know some guy many years ago got admitted by Duke using "Duck" in his essay. Total background package is the critical thing.

No one is going to ding you just for that. If you get dinged/waitlisted, I'm sure it was for other reasons. You can't change it now anyways so don't worry about it.

Only 5 or 6 more days and we'll all know. I'm just anxious to figure out where all I got in so I can start making a choice.

Mine still shows "Awaiting" with the red X and I sent my scores through GMAC a while back. I was under the impression everyone currently has that same status. Nothing to worry about.

Did Booth make you submit a scan of your unofficial report? I can't remember. If they didn't I suppose someone could make up a higher GMAT score, but that seems like a pretty silly thing to do given that Booth will eventually find out about such dishonesty when the official report comes in and can rescind your acceptance.

I sucked at my interview too. Still, what's done is done. Tried to think about other options and Round 2 (if needed).
Hold slim hope for Booth now.

Same here.
I made some stupid mistakes as well, not about the interview itself though. Let alone no chemistry with interviewer.
Based on my sub-standard interview performance and not-so-competitive background package, I have only slim hope, even Booth is my top1 dream school.
I think 15% possibilities I will get admitted, 45% WL, 40% denied.

Oh kill me, I overthink it too much.
