Hi Keehee,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your GMAT score is quite low, and I suggest you try to improve your score and aim to score at least 720+ to maximize your chances for LBS. However, we have helped a candidate with a 690 GMAT get into LBS, so your overall profile is important as well. On the work, your career progression is straightforward (from MT to PM), and you will need to demonstrate how you outperform your peers. You'll be able to write a convincing narrative if you've worked with international clients. Your other experiences will assist you in bringing diversity to your apps. Try to relate your post-MBA goals to your prior work experience and divide them into short-term and long-term goals.

Overall, you have a good profile and a decent chance at LBS; nevertheless, you should add some other schools for safety. What will be most important about your application is how you connect the experiential dots and create a compelling story. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to answer any of your concerns and discuss your further chances at LBS. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi Pari123
Thanks for sharing your profile!

Shimri from ARINGO here

The good:
You have an amazing professional profile, GMAT, certificates, volunteering you name it!
And if you write amazing applications, you will get several offers from the schools you are applying to.

Things I don’t know about you and would mention in the essays:
- Leadership (you mentioned you trained a team, but have you had any direct management experience?)
- international experience – have you worked with clients/teams from other countries? Have you had any international experience?
- School enthusiasm – you mentioned here a lot of schools. don’t forget, you need to show each school, why you want THEIR program
- Hobbies - you seem like such a driven person - don't forget to show you are a fun person too :)
I am assuming you have these but didn’t see evidence of them in your profile description

Pain points
11.5y of experience is really on the high side. And if you don’t go for it this year, you should consider dedicated 1-y programs for more senior candidates (you can see the list here: https://www.aringo.com/mba-over-30/ )

I can be reached at [email protected] if you want some help with your applications

and GOOD LUCK!

- School enthusiasm – you mentioned here a lot of schools. don’t forget, you need to show each school, why you want THEIR program - Yes
- Hobbies - you seem like such a driven person - don't forget to show you are a fun person too :) [ I m mostly into fitness, writing, mandala coloring ( very little though) ]

Could u share my chances of success for listed colleges?

Hello everyone, would really appreciate to review my profile for admission at LBS MBA 2024/25

I'm a 23 yr old Indian male currently working as a partner for my family's business which is a manufacturing industry of small scale with roughly 50 employees.
Undergrad - Mechanical Engineering with 3.2 GPA from a reputable university in India.
EC - Not much extracurricular except being part of the Photography Club of College, also had been to an educational trip to NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida when I was in high school. We had a small competition to make a small robot and our team came runner-up.
Work Experience - As of now I'm reaching 18 months working for the business. When I joined the company was at loss and now for this financial year we have achieved around $1 million in revenue, up from $400 thousand the previous year. I really feel I have helped in the improvement of the company's functioning and adding more client base.
I took up Mechanical Engineering in undergrad thinking it would help in the growth of the business since it's a company belonging to manufacturing sector. But now I know that for growth and expansion I need more knowledge on management and marketing fundamentals. I really believe doing a course which helps me understand the fundamentals of business like finance, marketing, supply chain, strategy would help me in the future growth of the business. I have very good business relationship with our clients which are international companies.
I'm yet to take a GMAT/GRE but would be aiming anywhere around 720-750.

Do you guys think an MBA is a good option? What are my chances at getting admits in a good university?
My preference would be in North America/UK/Europe.
LBS has always been my dream school.
I have read about Columbia's J Term which specializes for students who want to get back to their family business/ start their own venture, but I don't fancy my chances at M7/T15 universities.
Any input/suggestions would be welcomed and much appreciated.

Do you guys think an MBA is a good option? - It depends on what your reasons for doing an MBA are and what you expect to get out of it. An MBA would give you an all-round knowledge of business which is beneficial whether you continue being an entrepreneur or join a regular job.

What are my chances at getting admits in a good university? - what is a good university for you? It really depends on what your profile is like at the time you are applying. Its a broad and generic question.

My preference would be in North America/UK/Europe. - ok, that's more than half the world.

LBS has always been my dream school- good to know. My husband went there- so I have first hand experience of how excellent the program/ school culture/ location is.

I have read about Columbia's J Term which specializes for students who want to get back to their family business/ start their own venture, but I don't fancy my chances at M7/T15 universities. - If you haven't had any corporate experience, it may be worthwhile to consider that post MBA. Whether CBS is a good fit, we can discuss closer to your applications.

Any input/suggestions would be welcomed and much appreciated- 1. you need to gain more work experience and understand about b-school education in more depth. Your questions here are generic 2. I assume you are applying in 2024, so its good to get this feedback right at the onset of your MBA preparation - so that you are able to put in the needed effort, and from now.

Hi Ram09,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. Starting with the stats, your undergrad GPA is good, and a 730+ GMAT score will place you in a good position. You've worked in a startup, and your professional achievements should reflect your excellence. To assist you further, it would be wonderful if you could provide me with information about your professional path and the roles and responsibilities you have taken on. Business schools encourage individuals who have significant experience or have made significant contributions to their firms over time.

Regarding your ECs, they seem interesting and exhibit different aspects of your personality. Your photography, hiking, and other experiences will help you add diversity to your apps. Furthermore, waste management initiative demonstrates your personality of giving back to society. Your post-mba goals make sense and align with your prior work experience. You will need to speak about how an MBA will help you reach your goals. Overall you have a good profile. However, I would like to know more about your work profile to find major USPs in your profile and gauge your chances better. You may want to read how difficult it is to get into LBS. You will get some insights. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi nilaykr1990
Thanks for sharing your profile!

My name is Shimri Winters from ARINGO (I am a London Business School alumnus, I interviewed candidates for the school for 8 years, and I head ARINGO’s strategy team).

From what I can see you have a great profile:

Education – GPA: 7.66/10 and 7.91/10 both sounds like high scores
(I wonder if you know what % you are of the class)
Having two degrees does differentiate you a bit, so well done
The fact that you were active, for example, the head of Marketing Club, is amazing, and schools, and LBS love this

GMAT – 700 is not a bad score, but as you come from a competitive overrepresented background, and have plenty of time, I suggest you work on this and maximize your score here. The higher the better!

Career progress – GREAT career progress. Yes, a bit on the high side already (so apply for 2023, but later) at a great tier 1 brand (J&J) with promotions, change of products and functions. Keen to know if you have direct managerial experience and any international work experience? These two factors would help to strengthen your profile, so concentrate on those in the next 6 months…

Other – CSR is important and any volunteering you did counts! And shows a lot about your character

Career goals – Makes total sense

School wish list - Apart from LBS. which other schools were you thinking of? I would go for the top ~4 from the EU or US, dependent on your final GMAT and geographical ambitions…

All in all:
I love your profile, and with a good GMAT and some stellar applications (we can help with that 😊), I really think you have a great chance of getting accepted to some of the top schools!

I would love to review your profile further, discuss other aspects of your application and perhaps work together on getting some acceptance letters : ). For 2023, we have time, so currently working on the GMAT, and feel free to reach out around May, when it is time to work on the R1 applications…
As always, I can be reached at [email protected]

Hope to talk soon! and GOOD LUCK!

Hi nilaykr1990,

Thank you for providing such a thorough profile. Let's go through your profile one by one.

Stats: Quite impressive. Your undergrad GPA and grades are good, and they reflect your potential. You do demonstrate the ability to master analytical and quantitative ideas. If you achieve your target score or higher, your profile will become more competitive.

Work experience: Great! To begin with your prior position, you showed some leadership and mentorship skills. You were recognized for it, and teamwork is one of the values that most business schools look for. Furthermore, your career progression and contribution to your present position are outstanding. The presence of a well-known brand, such as J&J, on your resume, is a plus. It must speak of exceptional leadership abilities. Furthermore, while taking on new roles and responsibilities, you must emphasize your contribution to the organization. This will indicate your ability to execute well. You must discuss the impact and actions you implemented. You have strong international experience; make sure you illustrate how you thrive from various perspectives and challenge and adapt your ideas when interacting with others who have various beliefs and working and winning as a team. As a result, your international experience should communicate these values.

ECs: Working in an NGO and giving back to society demonstrates different aspects of your personality. You should also add anecdotes about the things you're passionate about, as you've said. It will assist you in bringing diversity. So it all boils down to how you present yourself to adcoms.

Post-mba goals: Your post-mba goals do make sense.

Overall you have an amazing profile and have a shot at LBS and other top b-schools. You may want to read an article on mba over 30, it will give you some insight on how to improve your odds if you are 30+ and instill the right confidence in you :) Try to add more schools to your list. What's going to matter most about your application is how you link experiential dots and make a great narrative. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi all,

Planning to apply to MIF programs this year (Sep 2022). LBS MiF is my dream so wanted an eval of my profile.

Background: Indian, Female, 26
Undergrad: BSc Math - 74.5% (just missed Distinction) from arts college in prominent University (not a great score or college)
GRE: expect 320 ish (based on mock)
Work ex:
Was hired post undergrad at Crisil (oldest and largest rating agency) through a work cum study program of 2 yrs. Worked in fixed income Research in Indian mkts. The program was in collaboration with NMIMS. Worked here 3 yrs.
Now working as a quant Analyst in a Multinational data company, have been here for 1.5 yrs. Waiting on promotion but not happened yet.

EC: CFA Level 2 passed in 2021
Have worked on parents farm for past few years and done some volunteering in 2021.
Have done some python courses on coursera.

Am I good enough? How do I improve my profile? Should I try to write and white paper and ask for promotion?
My manager thinks highly of me, last year I got a 40% hike, but no promotion.

Should I target some easier schools instead? Thanks in advance for your feedback!!

Hi NickiFan
Great to meet you and thanks for sharing your profile!

My name is Shimri Winters from ARINGO (I am a London Business School alumnus, I interviewed candidates for the school for 8 years, and I head ARINGO’s strategy team).

From what I can see you have a very interesting profile:

Education – Don't focus on what you didn't achieve (distinction). I would focus on the courses where you got high grades!

Career progress – GREAT career progress. Good brands, nice progress!

GRE – As you come from an over-represented background, 320 is not considered high. If you can get a higher score great, if not, why do you even need it? Holding CFA II or above gives you an automatic GRE/GMAT waiver at LBS! so up to you if to take the exam or not

Missing info – extra curricler activities, backup school list, career goals …

All in all:
You have a good profile! Will it be enough for LBS without a GRE? Hard to say. A lot depends on your stellar applications (we can help with that 😊) and interview, But, I really think you have a great chance of getting accepted to at least one top school!

I would love to review your profile further, discuss other aspects of your application and perhaps work together on getting some acceptance letters : ). As always, I can be reached at [email protected]

Hope to talk soon! and GOOD LUCK!

Hello NickiFan,

Thanks for writing in.

With the CFA Level 2, experience with CRISIL, and potential promotion (that you should try for), you have a lot working with you. However, please do take a shot at working on an improved GRE just so you are able to put forth a well-rounded application. A score upwards of 325 along with a set of essays that help portray your strengths and showcase a well-knit, logical story will definitely give you a good chance.

For a detailed profile evaluation, please feel free to get in touch.

All the best!

Hey NickiFan,

Your profile is pretty decent.
-You have a decent GPA.
-Your GRE is a little low; try to increase it by at least 30-40 points
-Although you can compensate for it by a strong profile
-The fact that you have done CFA shows that you are passionate and valuable in your application.

As you have mentioned, you have mentored people; this shows you have leadership skills; make sure to include them in your application.
Make sure you don’t miss the coming rolling R3 deadlines; otherwise, your chances will reduce drastically.

As you are targeting MiF you need to explain how you can benefit from the course, and you need to showcase how long you have been passionate about finance.
For example, you can explain why you chose the company you are currently working in and what impacts you have made to the company.

You need to elaborate on how you are better and different from others.

Your LORs can be useful to showcase your skills and value and will help in explaining how you are different from other candidates.

Some other schools you can look into applying can be
-LSC
-Oxford
-Skema and EDHEC can be your safe schools.

As you want to be based in a European city UK, German and French schools will be your best choice.

If you need help building a strong profile, you can set up a strategy session with us and we will be happy to assist you on how can you build a strong profile and with school selection

You can set up a Free consulting session with our experts through the link provided: BOOK YOUR FREE SESSION
