Request you to please explain all the answers points.

He earned these titles following 15 consecutive solo hit films in the 1970s, that remained unbroken.

A that remained
B that remains
C a record that remained
D that has remained
E a record that remains

In the original sentence, that remained broken logically has to refer to a noun/clause.
Now if we read given sentence as it is, we can't make sense of the sentence. 'That remained unbroken' - What remained broken - He earned ... non-sensical meaning.
Now, look at options -
A - that remained - Non-sensical meaning
B - Same as A
C - a record that remained - We got our noun here, Record. Now it makes sense. But We have a tense issue, we don't have time-related information available to us. We must assume that given information is still valid.
D - same as A and B
E - correct answer.
