Very nicely done, gmatexam439! You did a lot of things right, and I find it critical to point out to other members of the forum who want to score high on the GMAT:

1. First and foremost, you need strong fundamentals. Tricks and shortcuts can move you into the 600's. They alone will not land you in the 700's range. If you do not have a good background in either math or English, you need to improve on it. Give it time, and it will pay off big time (pun intended)
2. You need to focus on quality, not quantity. You'll be better off attempting 10 practice questions and really diving deep into why the correct answers are correct than attempting 100 practice questions and only paying attention to whether you got them right or wrong.
3. Practice exams should not be taken too early. It is only after you have mastered the basics and properly practiced the techniques should you turn to practice exams to build stamina and gauge your level.

To do very well on the GMAT, you need a lot of patience and a lot of efficiency. You don't have much time; don't spend it on the wrong things. Study smart, not hard.
Hi,

Thank you!

The points you mentioned are absolutely spot on. Everyone should take care of them.

I took notes while reading your journal. this is really inspiring, I am standing depressed at q37-40s and v20's after 6months of preparation. spent all I had, taking courses(jamboree, economist) and what not. Losing hope and read this, totally relatable. Just had no one to help me though. but I can see some light reading this, being a non-native I might score in v30's as well.
Can I pm you gmatexam439 ?

Wow, what a debrief man.

I literally got goosebumps when GmatNinja entered the story. ?

Precisely, “ At this point of time I was like "Oh God", what else can I do? I was literally out of options. And then I stumbled across the great savior GMATNinja”

And congrats on the score. You REALLY did put in a hell lot of effort.

Hope someday, I’ll be writing a debrief worth reading. ?
