Epsilon computer corporation's warranty mandates that any major servicing of the laptops requires a thorough repair of the defects and if possible a replacement. Customers are often very happy with the excellent service and refurbishment. However, the inadequateness of the initial factory assembly process is not because the workers lack competence but because the level of focused concentration witnessed with a particular machine is not seen with the factory level large batch assembly processes.

The argument above assumes which of the following?

A. Epsilon's warranty is very good for the initial assembly processes but does not cover rework jobs.

B. No other IT hardware firm competes successfully with Epsilon for complex repair jobs.

C. The assembly personnel are no different from those who do repair jobs.

D. Epsilon does not in any way penalize workers who have worked on complex jobs that later had to be reworked.

E. No division in Epsilon makes the cut for 100 % quality assurance and carries out assembly jobs satisfactorily.

What is the source of this question?

I feel the answer cannot be 'C'

My reason is no where it gives a hint that the workers are similar. Similarity in what competence? Or is it that the workers are same.

What paragraph does mention is that the initial assembly has workers with large assembly lines and errors at this level are accepted and not considered as incompetent at this stage and hence epsilon does not penalize it's workers at this level.

I have chosen D as the answer.
Experts.. egmat, veritas pls comment.

In my view, the mistake in manufacturing is unfortunate and repairing is very satisfactory too. That means the people involved in manufacturing and the people involved in repairing are equally talented. Option C matches.
