In corporate world, having an MBA degree is always a plus point for career growth. After spending around 5 years while working with few companies, I realized its importance for personal and professional growth.
I started my career after my B.Tech and never thought about this before. During my B. Tech. program, there was a buzz among friends about MBA from a premium B-Schools like IIM, ISB, INSEAD, HEC etc… but, I never shown any interest towards those talks. Today, I realize, I should be part of that because it could change something to better than this.
Well, I had an average profile but strong work experience of 6 plus years now. I started exploring about executive MBA first and then I came to know about ISB PGP and IIMA PGPX courses which are short term but have better value in career.
Taking the time from daily schedule was very difficult, so I thought to consult the same with my friend Arjun. He advised me about ‘General Education’ who guided Arjun before for his INSEAD Application few years back.
Mr. Abbas from General Education Team was the first guy who contacted me on my query and was with me to support till I secured admit in ISB PGP program.
Coming to my profile I had 720 GMAT score and average academic profile.
As a second step moving forward, I took their
3 B-School package and paid 50% of service fees to initiate the application building process for ISB, INSEAD and HEC. Their sales team member Abbas introduced a consultant (Abhinav) who was already working with a top consulting firm in Germany and had 6 years of experience in MBA admission consulting.
He did brainstorming discussion with me and gathered all information based on my
personal and professional achievements. As I had an idea about it already, he used all that information in building essays.
Well after few weeks, we were able to submit application along with essays for ISB in Round 1. I was also working on applications for INSEAD and HEC Paris.
While preparing for HEC application, I received an email from ISB about interview call and I was very excited to let this news out in my family and friends. I informed Abbas also.
Contacted Abbas back for interview preparation and this time, he introduced me to Anirvan who has been preparing candidates for around 7 years. We had mutually started mock interview sessions based on my profile, achievements, essays and future goals and why MBA from ISB etc...
My interviewer created a scene just like an interview day which was necessary to experience the situation.

On the interview day, I was little nervous but kept all things in mind that Anirvan shared with me. Took a long cool breath before entering the room and showed that I am confident about this seen with my body language.

. Finally interview was over and informed to Anirvan. I shared my interview experience with him and he shown confidence in me that I did well and hope for the best.
Finally, I got the selection email from the ISB admission team. I called immediately back to Arjun for recommending the right people and it turned out in a party day btw
In my overall journey, I recommend few key pointers which helped me to win this situation:1. A good GMAT Score
2. Strong academic profile has extra points but average profile is good enough
3. Build essays around your personal and professional achievements so that you can remain confident during interview in future also.
4. Highlight more on your key achievements in Essays and be true.
5. You should have an objective against every activity that you mention in your application.
6. A leadership experience can help you for building strong application.
In my opinion every 3rd applicant from India, gets guidance from an MBA consultant so choosing a right consultant is very crucial step in application journey..
Best of luck
