nightblade354 I am not able to figure out why E is wrong?
Could you please assist me here?

Stick to good sources. I don't count Princeton as one of them. I have had issues with their questions in the past.

A causes B- this simply means that we need to assume that B does not cause A or something else does not cause both B and A

Weakener: B causes A or something else causes both B and A

Now read this- more often sharing physical space(A), the better socialisation(B)

So socialisation does not cause sharing physical space.

Option B is simply the correlation that behavioral attributes hamper both sharing physical space and socialisation. Hence the answer.

why not D
(D) is a trap choice that does not have any effect on the support for the conclusion.

The study did use observations of the issue. It used evidence. Where the evidence came from does not change the support provided by thagt evidence, since we are given no reason to believe the the evidence is somehow flawed.

So, what (D) says doesn't really make any difference.

Was between B, D, and E.
D was fairly easy to eliminate - all it really suggests is that the study cited was an aggregate of multiple studies. You could argue it was a meta-study and therefore stengthens the conclusion IMO.

B and E is where it gets tricky, and I'm not even sure if this logic is correct. The question asks to weaken "the influence" of the study. Weakening the study itself doesn't necessarily weaken it's influence on the argument as written. Instead, B suggests a different reasoning for the socialization issues that operates against/seperately from the study. B therefore "weakens the influence" of the study to the argument, rather that just weakens the studies conclusions.

E is wrong as it is saying that "the study was not done correctly - for the purpose intended". We cannot have that in GMAT. And B gives us a 3rd factor (behavioral reasons) that can effect both - socialization and sharing physical space - instead of physical space sharing causing socialization.
